About the Role

Burns & Wilcox is seeking a visionary leader to drive business growth and profitability in our Denver office. As the Associate Managing Director, you will be responsible for leading, developing, and overseeing the overall performance of the Denver office.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Management: Effectively lead and manage a team of Underwriter and Broker producers, and support staff to achieve business objectives.
  • Business Development: Develop and implement strategies for profitable growth, retention of business, and expansion of the Denver office.
  • Talent Management: Attract, retain, and develop top talent by driving the selection, hiring, and promotion of employees in the business unit.
  • Sales and Marketing: Define and monitor successful sales and marketing strategies to drive business growth.
  • Relationship Management: Manage relationships with retail agents and underwriter/broker producers to drive business growth and profitability.
  • Financial Management: Responsible for office Profit & Loss, including managing budgets and financial resources.
  • Operational Excellence: Manage the overall operations of the office, driving consistency and quality in all processes, including new business opportunities, renewal reviews, marketing procedures, training, and staffing.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience as a sales team leader, including direct management experience, and minimum 5 years of multi-line underwriting/production experience, with excess & surplus experience preferred.
  • Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead, influence, and motivate a team, ability to develop and manage strong relations with clients, carriers, and third parties, demonstrated proficiency in sales and marketing, and proven organization skills with a strong attention to detail.
  • Certifications: Insurance license, CPCU, CIC, or comparable designations preferred.
