Job Summary

The City of Rancho Cucamonga, CA is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Building Inspector I/II to join our team. As a Building Inspector, you will be responsible for ensuring that buildings and structures in our city meet the necessary safety and building codes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough inspections of buildings and structures to ensure compliance with building codes and regulations.
  • Identify and report any defects or hazards found during inspections.
  • Work with property owners and contractors to resolve any issues or concerns.
  • Collaborate with other city departments to ensure that building codes and regulations are enforced consistently.
  • Provide excellent customer service to the public and respond to their inquiries and concerns.
Requirements
  • Graduation from high school or equivalent and four years of increasing responsible experience in one or more of the building trades, construction, or any combination of training and experience that provides the desired knowledge and abilities.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Class C or Class 3 California Driver's License, and have a satisfactory driving record.
  • Certification from the International Code Council (ICC) as a Residential Building Inspector within six months of employment and certification from the ICC as a Commercial Building Inspector within one year of employment is required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's degree in construction technology is highly desirable.
  • Experience with a public agency is highly desirable.
