Job Summary

Element Materials Technology is seeking an experienced Operations Manager I to lead our laboratory operations team. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of test results, while maintaining a safe and compliant work environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Team Management: Lead a team of approximately 40 employees, providing guidance and support to ensure the successful completion of daily tasks and projects.
  • Safety and Quality Assurance: Ensure compliance with established safety rules, code of conduct, and company policies and procedures, maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Operational Excellence: Direct, coordinate, and facilitate the daily activities of laboratory operations department managers and supervisors, ensuring the efficient operation of the lab.
  • Customer Focus: Provide exceptional customer service, ensuring that customer expectations are consistently met in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner.
  • Technical Expertise: Demonstrate deep knowledge of laboratory safety, testing capabilities, and technical processes, providing guidance and support to staff members.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Effectively communicate with clients, colleagues, and staff members, ensuring clear understanding of expectations and requirements.
  • Problem-Solving and Conflict Resolution: Utilize strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills to address issues and concerns, maintaining a positive and respectful work environment.
  • Strategic Planning and Budgeting: Participate in the development and implementation of the lab's strategic direction, overseeing budgets and resources to ensure efficient operation.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a science or technical-related discipline, or a minimum of 7 years of experience in a management role.
  • Experience: At least 5 to 10 years of environmental experience, including organic, inorganic, and metals background.
  • Skills: Strong computer skills, basic mathematical skills, and ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Ability to lift < 50 lbs. often and > 50 lbs. on occasion, and stand on feet for long periods of time.
  • Technical Leadership: Advanced working knowledge to operate various testing equipment, with the ability to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues.
  • Project Management: Strong project management, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with a proven track record of success in technical competency.
