POSITION SUMMARY:
An Insurance Agent plays a pivotal role in fostering growth within First MainStreet Insurance, assisting individuals, businesses, and organizations in managing and mitigating risks effectively.
As part of a dynamic, resourceful, and collaborative High-Performance Team (HPT) structure at First MainStreet Insurance, Agents are expected to excel.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prospect for new business through local networks and community connections.
- Retain clients by fostering strong relationships within the High-Performance Team (HPT) framework.
- Conduct sales and service while exploring all forms of insurance business using strategies developed by First MainStreet.
- Actively pursue prospects to generate new accounts and create interest through effective prospecting techniques.
- Develop accounts and cross-sell products and services by connecting clients with the appropriate specialists.
- Enhance growth and client retention through superior customer relationships and diligent follow-up.
- Generate and pursue new client opportunities, promptly following up on referrals.
- Market insurance risks to companies in line with established practices and policies.
- Promote all lines of commercial insurance, directly influencing revenue goals through new business acquisition and renewal retention.
- Collaborate with Account Managers for pre-underwriting, information gathering, submissions, coverage analysis, and proposal presentations as necessary.
- Build and maintain professional relationships with insurance company underwriters through consistent submissions and negotiations.
- Stay informed about market underwriting appetites, industry trends, and changes in insurance company policies.
- Accurately maintain records of prospects, new, and renewal business in the agency management system (EPIC) for trend analysis.
- Present First MainStreet Insurance services and solutions during prospect meetings.
- Enhance industry knowledge through continuing education, obtaining or updating designations, and participating in agency training.
- Travel or visit clients as required.
- Maintain confidentiality of client and carrier information.
- Perform additional duties as assigned, appropriate to the position.
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
- Demonstrated experience as an Insurance Agent/Producer, with a focus on customer relationship management and sales.
- Proficient in service management software and tools, such as EPIC.
- Possess an entrepreneurial mindset.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building rapport and influencing stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, adept at prioritizing and managing multiple client accounts.
- Familiarity with insurance industry terminology and documentation.
- Adept at analyzing, interpreting, and presenting insurance-related data.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While executing job duties, the employee is regularly required to communicate verbally and listen for instructions and information.
The employee must also sit for extended periods, often in front of a computer monitor, and operate a computer keyboard. Occasional lifting and/or moving of up to 25 pounds may be required. Specific vision abilities necessary include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
