Position Overview

We are looking for motivated Civil Engineering professionals for our team, who possess excellent communication, organizational, and writing abilities, along with a strong enthusiasm for engaging with others on multidisciplinary projects.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will support the design and analysis of civil engineering projects related to water for various governmental entities. Responsibilities include:
  • Developing detailed designs for water distribution, sewer systems, stormwater management, and site civil enhancements under the guidance of the Project Manager and Project Engineer.
  • Creating plans and construction drawings for water-related projects and site improvements in collaboration with CAD personnel using AutoCAD software.
  • Drafting technical specifications aligned with HDR’s master specifications and client requirements.
  • Compiling design reports for water projects, including necessary mapping and calculations.
  • Engaging in construction phase activities such as administration, observation, and supporting engineering tasks.
  • Coordinating with team members and project managers to ensure project success.

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications

A robust foundation in various aspects of water-related civil engineering, along with experience in developing construction drawings and strong technical writing and organizational skills, are crucial for this role. Specific requirements include:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
  • EIT certification is highly preferred; candidates without EIT will hold the title of "Coordinator" and are expected to obtain their EIT for career advancement.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, standard CAD platforms like AutoCAD, and hydraulic modeling software.
  • Self-driven, capable of working independently and collaboratively to complete tasks.
  • A commitment to actively participating in our employee-owned culture is essential.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Internship or up to one year of experience in civil and water-related design.
  • Experience with AutoCAD for mapping, design tasks, and drawing preparation.
  • Familiarity with hydrologic and hydraulic analysis tools and modeling software, with a focus on water, sewer, and stormwater modeling.
  • Experience with ArcGIS for mapping and basic data analysis supporting hydrologic and hydraulic modeling.
  • Background in preparing subsurface utility engineering reports and construction stormwater management plans.
