Position Overview

As a key member of our Water business, the role of the Intermediate Civil Engineer involves collaborating with top-tier engineers and scientists who approach water management as an integrated system. Your Role

In this position, you will take on a variety of responsibilities, including:
  • Independently managing smaller projects while contributing to larger initiatives.
  • Evaluating and selecting engineering systems and products tailored to project needs.
  • Conducting complex calculations and fieldwork, while coordinating tasks and team members.
  • Analyzing project proposals to guarantee structural integrity, resource efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities
  • Overseeing multiple projects of moderate complexity and serving as the Engineer-of-Record.
  • Executing advanced engineering design tasks under the guidance of senior project leads.
  • Creating design documents through sketches, models, and diagrams.
  • Preparing and updating civil documentation, including site plans and utility profiles.
  • Leading project coordination meetings with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Engaging in client meetings to discuss project requirements and cost assessments.
  • Facilitating the permitting process by liaising with clients and regulatory agencies.
  • Mentoring junior team members and delegating tasks as necessary.
  • Assisting in project scope, budget, staffing, and scheduling management.
  • Preparing construction contract documents and participating in constructability reviews.
  • Conducting quality assurance and control for assigned projects.
  • Contributing to the development of new engineering standards and specifications.
  • Supporting the civil team during construction phases, including document reviews and clarifications.

Qualifications

Skills and Experience
  • In-depth knowledge of civil engineering principles, including design for gravity and pressure systems, geotechnical considerations, and stormwater management.
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to efficiently allocate resources.
  • Proficient in engaging with clients and regulatory bodies regarding project matters.
  • Comprehensive understanding of relevant codes and legal requirements.
  • Expertise in project documentation and the interplay between drawings and specifications.
  • Familiarity with civil engineering software such as AutoCAD Civil3D and other modeling tools.
  • Proven problem-solving abilities and creativity in engineering solutions.
  • Capability to review the work of peers for accuracy and completeness.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with a focus on teamwork.

Education

A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field is required, along with a Professional Engineer license and a minimum of six years of relevant experience. The role may involve both office and fieldwork, requiring adaptability to various environmental conditions.
