Position Overview: We are looking for a full-time Family Law Staff Attorney to join our New Port Richey office.

This role is funded through a grant aimed at providing representation and support to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking. The attorney will manage a caseload focused on securing Injunctions for Protection and other Family Law services. Candidates should possess the capability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal representation in court, including urgent advocacy.
  • Offer guidance and support regarding crime victim compensation.
  • Assess applicants' eligibility for legal services and maintain accurate documentation of client interactions and case management.
  • Engage with clients to understand their legal needs, providing counsel and referrals to relevant public agencies or community resources.
  • Clarify legal options and potential outcomes to clients.
  • Formulate and execute strategies for favorable case resolutions, preparing legal documents such as contracts, briefs, and pleadings in a timely manner.
  • Conduct legal research to inform decision-making and analyze evidence, while identifying implications from legal precedents.
  • Negotiate settlements with opposing parties and prepare necessary correspondence.
  • Develop and present cases in hearings before various courts and administrative bodies.
  • Travel for client meetings or hearings as required.
  • Oversee junior attorneys and legal support staff.
  • Contribute to other program components as needed and engage in community outreach activities.
  • Stay updated on relevant legislation and participate in continuing legal education opportunities.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Team Leader.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctorate (JD) and active membership in the Florida Bar.
  • Proven ability to work independently and manage the work of others.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Empathetic understanding of the challenges faced by low-income individuals.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a non-profit legal services environment.
  • Background in Family Law or Civil Litigation.
  • Familiarity with Domestic Violence cases.
  • Proficiency in legal database systems for case documentation.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English.

Compensation:

  • Starting salary of $52,500 or higher, depending on experience.
  • Comprehensive benefits package including paid leave, mileage reimbursement for work-related travel, and support for continuing education and professional licensure renewal.
