Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Technical Field Engineer plays a crucial role in applying expertise in mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic systems to install, troubleshoot, and maintain equipment at client locations across various regions.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Oversees installation processes and may actively engage in the setup of machinery and equipment at client sites, adhering to detailed specifications.
  2. Assembles and integrates electrical and electromechanical components and systems, utilizing hand tools, electrical testing devices, and wiring schematics.
  3. Conducts inspections, diagnostics, and troubleshooting to repair and service equipment, following the manufacturer's guidelines.
  4. Executes repairs or supervises the repair of worn or malfunctioning machinery or equipment at the client's premises.
  5. Modifies existing installations to ensure compatibility with new systems or design modifications.
  6. Provides recommendations for retrofitting and enhancing existing equipment, when applicable.
  7. Installs machinery, electrical systems, or software to align with established specifications.
  8. Identifies preventative maintenance needs and schedules appropriate maintenance activities.
  9. Performs tests to verify that equipment, software, or procedures function as intended.
  10. Collaborates with clients and engineering teams to address design and operational challenges.
  11. Participates in debugging and Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) of machinery at the manufacturing facility to gain familiarity with machine operations.
  12. Operates machinery during trial runs at client locations to ensure quality and operational standards are met.
  13. Engages with client representatives to determine effective machine operation methods for specific applications.
  14. Trains client personnel on the operation, adjustment, maintenance, and repair of machinery or equipment.
  15. May assist in identifying training requirements and contribute to the development of machine-specific training programs.
  16. Willingness to travel as necessary (up to 50% of the time).
  17. Additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required:

  1. Must meet security clearance standards and pass background checks for access to secured client facilities.
  2. Experience in installing machinery, electrical systems, or software to meet specifications.

Preferred:

  1. Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in a technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience demonstrating technical proficiency.
  2. Familiarity with AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks.
  3. A minimum of five years of experience in the installation and servicing of complex industrial systems.
  4. A comprehensive background in industrial control hardware and software, tool and die operations, welding, hydraulic systems, and mechanical systems.
  5. Proficient in using Windows-based personal computers and related software.
  6. Ability to program industrial control hardware, including PLCs, motion control systems, operator interface terminals, and data acquisition devices.
  7. Capable of performing complex analyses, planning and executing a variety of tasks, and demonstrating exceptional judgment as a team leader.
  8. Represents the organization in a professional and positive manner.
  9. Develops work plans to achieve objectives and effectively prioritizes and organizes tasks.
  10. Manages multiple, often conflicting, priorities.
  11. Exhibits excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  12. Effectively instructs client operators and repair technicians.
  13. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
