Field Service Technician

Position Summary:
The Service Technician plays a crucial role in leveraging expertise in mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic systems to deliver exceptional support in the installation, repair, and maintenance of equipment at client locations across the United States and internationally. As proficiency in Company equipment and processes is acquired, this position has the potential to evolve into a Field Service Engineer role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Generate service quotes by obtaining labor estimates, vendor pricing, reviewing historical equipment data, and assessing schedule availability.
- Assist in addressing customer service inquiries by directing them to the appropriate department.
- Provide remote troubleshooting assistance to clients.
- Recommend retrofit and design enhancements for existing equipment, as necessary.
- Support the installation of equipment, machinery, wiring, or software to meet specified requirements.
- Help identify preventative maintenance needs and determine the type and timing of maintenance required.
- Collaborate with customer representatives to establish effective machine operation methods for specific tasks.
- Facilitate training for customer personnel on operating, adjusting, maintaining, and repairing machinery or equipment.
- May assist in identifying training requirements and contribute to the development of machine-specific training programs.
- Travel may be required (up to 10% of the time; may increase with experience).
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Preferred: Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in a technical discipline, or equivalent experience demonstrating technical proficiency.
- Experience with AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks is advantageous.
- Background in installing equipment, machinery, wiring, or software to meet specifications.
- Knowledge of marketing strategies, product demonstrations, sales techniques, and sales control systems.
- Experience with industrial control hardware and software, tool and die operations, welding, fluid power, mechanical systems, and/or hydraulics.
- Proficient in using Windows-based personal computers and software applications.
- Represent the Company in a professional and positive manner.
- Ability to develop work plans and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Capable of managing multiple, often conflicting, priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
- Ability to effectively instruct customer operators and repair technicians.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
