Service Engineering Specialist

Position Summary:
The role of a Field Service Engineer at DOERFER CORPORATION involves applying expertise in mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic systems to install, troubleshoot, and maintain equipment at client locations both domestically and internationally.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and participate in the installation of machinery and equipment, ensuring compliance with specifications.
- Assemble and install electrical and electromechanical components and systems utilizing hand tools, electrical testing devices, and wiring schematics.
- Conduct inspections, troubleshooting, and diagnostics to repair and service equipment, adhering to manufacturer guidelines.
- Manage or assist in the repair of malfunctioning or worn machinery at client sites.
- Modify existing equipment to ensure compatibility with new units or design alterations.
- Provide recommendations for retrofitting and enhancing current equipment as necessary.
- Install machinery, wiring, or software to meet established specifications.
- Identify and implement preventative maintenance strategies, determining necessary maintenance actions.
- Perform tests to verify that equipment, software, or procedures function as intended.
- Collaborate with clients and engineering teams to address design and operational challenges.
- Engage in debugging and Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) of machines at the manufacturer's facility to gain familiarity with machine operations.
- Conduct trial runs of machinery at client locations to ensure quality and operational standards are met.
- Consult with client representatives to identify effective machine operation methods for specific tasks.
- Provide training to client personnel on the operation, adjustment, maintenance, and repair of machinery.
- Assist in identifying training needs and contribute to the development of machine-specific training programs.
- Travel as necessary, potentially up to 50% of the time.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Ability to meet security clearance requirements and pass background checks for access to secured client facilities.
- Experience in installing machinery, wiring, or software to meet technical specifications.
Preferred:
- Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in a technical discipline or equivalent practical experience demonstrating technical proficiency.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks.
- A minimum of five years of experience in the installation and servicing of complex industrial systems.
- A comprehensive background in industrial control hardware and software, tool and die operations, welding, fluid power, mechanical systems, and hydraulics.
- Proficient in using Windows-based personal computers and software applications.
- Capability to program industrial control hardware, PLCs, motion control systems, operator interface terminals, and data acquisition devices.
- Ability to perform complex analyses, plan and execute a variety of tasks, and demonstrate exceptional judgment as a team leader.
- Represent the company in a professional and positive manner.
- Develop plans to achieve work objectives and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Manage multiple, often conflicting, priorities efficiently.
- Exhibit excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Effectively instruct client operators and repair technicians.
- Work independently with minimal supervision.
