Role Summary:

S&P Global Commodity Insights is seeking a Senior Analyst to contribute to our North America Solar PV division, which specializes in the analysis of solar demand and manufacturing trends across the United States and Canada. This position requires a multifaceted approach, as the analyst will engage in various tasks including data modeling, database management, analytical writing for reports and media inquiries, client relationship management, and public presentations.

Team Environment

The Solar PV team operates within the broader Clean Energy Technology research group at S&P Global Commodity Insights, encompassing a wide array of cleantech markets worldwide. The team culture is characterized by strong collaboration, given the interconnected nature of global supply chains and cross-disciplinary research opportunities. Simultaneously, the remote structure of the team fosters a high degree of independence and self-motivation.

Key Responsibilities and Contributions
  • Gather, organize, and evaluate market data to develop solar PV demand projections for the United States and Canada.
  • Produce high-quality quantitative and qualitative market reports assessing the current state and future outlook of the solar industry in the US.
  • Collaborate with a diverse global analyst team to synchronize perspectives and align data and forecasts.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with senior executives in the solar sector to obtain primary data and insights for research purposes.
  • Draft and disseminate regular research updates that analyze recent policies, news, and developments within the solar market to clients and media.
  • Assist clients by providing prompt and thorough responses to inquiries regarding research findings, including on-site and telephonic presentations.
  • Partner with global sales and marketing teams to enhance the visibility of our research and support client retention efforts to achieve commercial objectives.
  • Occasional travel, both domestic and international, may be necessary.
Qualifications and Skills Required

Essential Qualifications:
  • 2-4 years of experience in market analysis; direct experience in the solar or energy storage sectors is preferred, though experience in other power industries such as wind or gas is also acceptable.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); familiarity with databases is highly advantageous.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with effective presentation abilities.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the capacity to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • A relevant bachelor's degree is required, with a preference for fields such as Environmental Science, Engineering, Geography, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Sustainability Studies, or Mathematics.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • A graduate degree is highly desirable.
  • Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
