Role Summary:

S&P Global Commodity Insights is seeking a Senior Analyst to contribute to our North America Solar PV division, dedicated to analyzing solar demand and manufacturing trends across the United States and Canada. This position requires a versatile skill set, as the analyst will engage in various tasks including data modeling, database management, report writing, client engagement, and public presentations.

Team Dynamics

The Solar PV division operates within the broader Clean Energy Technology research group at S&P Global Commodity Insights, which encompasses a wide array of cleantech markets worldwide. The environment is characterized by strong collaboration, reflecting the interconnected nature of global supply chains and cross-disciplinary research initiatives. Additionally, the team culture promotes independence and self-motivation due to its remote work structure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Gather, manage, and interpret market data to develop solar PV demand projections for the U.S. and Canada.
  • Produce high-quality quantitative and qualitative market reports that assess the current state and future outlook of the U.S. solar sector.
  • Collaborate with a diverse global analyst team to synchronize perspectives and harmonize data and forecasts.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with senior executives in the solar industry to collect primary data and insights for research purposes.
  • Draft and disseminate regular research updates that evaluate recent policies, news, and developments in the solar sector for clients and media.
  • Address client inquiries by providing prompt and thorough responses regarding research findings, including on-site and telephonic presentations.
  • Partner with global sales and marketing teams to enhance the visibility of our research and support client retention efforts to achieve commercial objectives.
  • Occasional domestic and international travel may be necessary.
Qualifications

Essential Requirements:
  • 2-4 years of experience in market analysis; direct experience in the solar or energy storage sectors is preferred, although experience in other power industries (e.g., wind, gas) is acceptable.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); familiarity with databases is highly advantageous.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with effective presentation abilities.
  • Excellent organizational skills, capable of managing multiple tasks and deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • A relevant bachelor's degree is required, with a preference for fields such as Environmental Science, Engineering, Geography, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Sustainability Studies, or Mathematics.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • A graduate degree is highly desirable.
  • Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
