Instructional Design and Assessment Coordinator

We are seeking a highly skilled Curriculum Development Specialist to join our team at Blackhawk Technical College. This individual will play a critical role in the quality and maintenance of our curriculum, serving as the primary support for faculty creating or revising curriculum using our available software.
Key Responsibilities- Curriculum and Assessment (50%):
- Serves as the first point of contact for faculty proposing new curriculum, working closely with the Registrar to ensure an efficient workflow process and identify areas for process improvement.
- Maintains curriculum compliance standards and instructional integrity by providing guidance and suggested edits to faculty on proposed curriculum submissions, communicating closely with those in subsequent workflow steps.
- Provides support in a one-on-one and/or group training environment for faculty and instructional staff in the effective use of our curriculum management software: Worldwide Instructional Design System (WIDS).
- Serves as our assessment software administrator for WIDS regarding syllabus management, program outcomes, and course competencies.
- In collaboration with the Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness (IRE), trains faculty on assessment analysis and related software, such as Blackboard Analytics and Pyramid.
- Leads our response to faculty requests for support regarding assessment and curriculum-related software, contributes to the optimization of curriculum software, and enters data into curriculum software as needed to ensure accuracy.
- Collaborates with program faculty to inventory program offerings and needs of industry partners as needed to identify potential areas for curriculum submissions.
- Serves as a member of the Curriculum Quality Committee.
- Adjunct Specialist and Instructional Design (50%):
- Researches, recommends, and assists faculty in implementing learner-centered methodologies for the design, delivery, and assessment of learning.
- Coaches and guides faculty in the adaptation of effective instructional content using teaching and learning pedagogy.
- Makes recommendations for new and emerging instructional technologies and advises the college on their effectiveness.
- Recommends changes and enhancements to our learning management system (Blackboard).
- Conducts reviews of course shells and other instructional materials as needed using Quality Matters standards.
- Serves as an engaged team member and represents Teaching and Learning to other areas of the college.
- Supports the planning and facilitation of faculty professional development.
- Assists Instructional Supervisors in the onboarding of adjunct faculty and serves as a point of contact for supporting adjunct faculty.
- Project management and organizational capabilities, with the ability to handle multiple short and long-term projects simultaneously.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Knowledge of foundational learning theories and instructional design models, with the ability to apply this knowledge to the creation of effective curriculum.
- Willingness to continuously improve one's knowledge, skills, and attitude, especially those pertaining to instructional design, assessment, and curriculum development.
- Ability to apply fundamental research skills to instructional design projects.
- Ability to analyze problems and situations, identify alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions, and implement recommendations in support of goals.
- Proficient with current instructional technology and web conferencing software, with strong proficiency with Microsoft Office software.
- Masters degree in Education, Instructional Design, or a related field.
- Two (2) years of training/teaching experience with curriculum development and assessment experience.
- Experience working with diverse populations.
- Training in Quality Matters Standards.
- Familiarity with the Wisconsin Technical College System and/or similar post-secondary educational setting.
