Job Title: Assistant Controller

Reports To: CFO

SUMMARY

The Assistant Controller plays a crucial role in upholding and advancing the organization's vision, mission, and core values. This position is accountable for overseeing all financial and accounting functions within the company. Responsibilities include the preparation of monthly financial reports, the development and enforcement of financial policies and procedures, and ensuring adherence to all financial regulations. The Assistant Controller will also manage the analysis and reporting of financial data, including budgets and necessary filings, and will present insights and recommendations to the management team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  1. Oversee Daily Finance Operations
    1. Manage accounting processes, internal controls, and database management systems.
    2. Track accounts receivable and payable to maintain optimal cash flow.
    3. Support local management in achieving key performance indicators through data analysis and advanced reporting.
  2. Prepare Financial Statements
    1. Generate comprehensive and precise financial statements.
    2. Lead efforts to enhance internal communication across all organizational levels.
    3. Collaborate with external CPA firms to ensure timely completion of annual financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, and relevant footnotes.
  3. Direct Company Financial Planning and Budgeting
    1. Facilitate the preparation of the annual budget.
    2. Analyze monthly operating results against the budget and report variances as part of financial statement preparation.
  4. Manage Government and Regulatory Tax Filings
    1. Prepare necessary tax filings, including Commercial Activity Tax, Sales Tax, Quarterly Estimates, Use Tax, and 5500 forms.
    2. Coordinate with external CPA firms for the preparation of the annual tax return.
  5. Maintain Banking and Insurance Relationships
    1. Ensure timely distribution of all banking information.
    2. Engage with insurance representatives to address all organizational needs.
    3. Oversee debt financing and service payments with external agencies.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • At least two years of experience in an accounting role or with a CPA firm.
  • In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and tax regulations.
  • Experience in the packaging sector is advantageous.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and analytical abilities.
  • Strong attention to detail and capability to perform well under pressure.
  • Familiarity with accounting software and financial analysis tools.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • This position does not have direct reports.
EDUCATION
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
