Position Overview

The Senior Manager of Business Valuation will oversee the thorough preparation of detailed valuation reports for various organizations. This role entails constructing financial models, analyzing and normalizing financial statements, preparing and interpreting pro forma financial data, conducting economic and industry research, evaluating market transactional data, and engaging in interactive client presentations. The position encompasses a broad spectrum of services, including business enterprise valuations, asset valuations for mergers and acquisitions, dispute resolution, and financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Utilize technical expertise and research to formulate client-specific recommendations.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of client operations and enhance consulting skills. Gather adequate information to make informed decisions and provide suggestions, applying materiality to each situation.
  • Maintain and refine the firm's Quality Control protocols for business valuations.
  • Review and update firm checklists as needed.
  • Stay informed about industry developments and adjust our processes accordingly.
  • Ensure quality assurance and efficiency by reviewing and updating engagement letters and firm reports.
  • Evaluate and recommend external sources for reference and research.
  • Exhibit strong report writing skills; create effective reports that clearly convey complex ideas in a concise manner.
  • Enhance knowledge and proficiency in relevant firm technology, tools, and processes, demonstrating adept use of paperless systems.
  • Achieve and surpass objectives set during the annual performance evaluation process.
  • Assist in resolving complex business challenges by breaking down issues into manageable components and analyzing the costs, benefits, opportunities, and risks associated with each potential solution.
  • Expand knowledge of applicable firm technology, paperless systems, tools, and processes.
  • Develop an understanding of the Firm's vision, core values, and business strategies.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics, or a related field is required.
  • Valuation or relevant accreditation (CVA, CCBA, ABV, or ASA) is necessary.
  • 5-9 years of experience in valuation within a consulting firm, CPA firm, investment bank, or similar environment, providing services in corporate finance, valuation, and/or transaction services.
  • Experience managing and delivering business and intangible valuations for mergers and acquisitions, financial reporting, tax compliance, litigation, restructuring, and corporate services.
  • Strong background in business assessment and analysis, with a solid understanding of financial reporting and tax-related valuations.
  • Proven ability to oversee multiple valuation engagements and manage client relationships effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with strong analytical and financial modeling capabilities, and a commitment to mentoring and developing team members.
  • Experience in litigation support, including acting as an expert witness.

  • Begin to cultivate the skills necessary for developing strong client relationships and loyalty. Understand the client's business and employ effective questioning and listening techniques to gather information. Use insights to identify areas of need and propose potential consulting solutions.
  • Communicate effectively across various professional contexts.
  • Engage actively in on-the-job and formal learning opportunities to grasp role responsibilities.
  • Adapt to changing priorities and circumstances with ease.
Leadership Responsibilities
  • Supervise and manage the Business Valuation Team.
  • Demonstrate experience and success in training, mentoring, and coaching staff.
  • Exhibit a proactive approach, taking charge and persisting until tasks are completed.
  • Understand the critical nature of this position to the Firm's success and be accountable for individual actions.
Technology Proficiency
  • Stay current with emerging technologies.
  • Integrate new techniques while minimizing disruptions to productivity.
