About the Position:

We are seeking a highly qualified educator with a passion for teaching computer science to join our faculty team at Foothill College. As a key member of our Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Division, you will play a vital role in shaping the educational experience of our students.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Teach a variety of college-level courses in data science, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and other computer science disciplines.
  • Motivate and encourage students to succeed by providing individualized support and guidance.
  • Support program planning and develop goals and metrics for student learning outcomes.
  • Support student success in STEM by encouraging the use of STEM Learning Resource Center and college-wide academic supports.
  • Support the campus community in their understanding of artificial intelligence and machine learning, and the impact of these emerging fields on education and society.
  • Engage in professional contributions on the Foothill campus throughout the academic year.
  • Participate in campus extra-curricular activities.
  • Share institutional responsibilities of value to the department, division, college, and/or district.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master's in computer science or computer engineering.
  • OR Bachelor's in either of the above and Master's in mathematics, cybernetics, business administration, accounting, or engineering.
  • OR Bachelor's in engineering and Master's in cybernetics, engineering, mathematics, or business administration.
  • OR Bachelor's in mathematics and Master's in cybernetics, engineering, mathematics, or business administration.
  • OR Bachelor's degree in any of the above and a master's degree in information science, computer information systems, or information systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with data science and machine learning.
Working Conditions:

This position requires an indoor, office environment with regular standing, walking, and sitting for extended periods of time. The ability to bend, kneel, or crouch is also required, as well as reaching overhead, above the shoulders, and horizontally. Lifting and carrying objects up to 20 lbs. is also a requirement.
