KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the supervision of the Dean of the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Division, the educator will be responsible for delivering a range of college-level courses in data science, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and other subjects within the computer science department. Responsibilities include motivating and supporting students to achieve success, contributing to program planning, and developing goals and metrics for student learning outcomes. The educator will also promote student success in STEM by encouraging the utilization of the STEM Learning Resource Center and other academic support services.

Additionally, the educator will engage with the campus community to enhance understanding of artificial intelligence and machine learning, as well as their implications for education and society. Assignments may include day, evening, online, on-campus, and off-campus teaching. Faculty are expected to participate in professional contributions on campus throughout the academic year.

Standard expectations for all faculty include curriculum development and evaluation, maintaining scheduled office hours, attending departmental and divisional meetings, pursuing professional growth activities, serving on college committees, and fulfilling other duties consistent with the instructor role. Faculty members are also encouraged to engage in extracurricular activities on campus.

Instructors are expected to uphold a commitment to diversity and equity, demonstrating sensitivity and respect for the varied academic, socio-economic, ethnic, cultural, disability, religious backgrounds, and sexual orientations of community college students, faculty, and staff.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Demonstrated understanding of, sensitivity to, and respect for the diverse academic, socio-economic, ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds, disability, and sexual orientation of community college students, faculty, and staff.
  2. Master's degree in computer science or computer engineering OR Bachelor's degree in either of the above AND Master's degree in mathematics, cybernetics, business administration, accounting, or engineering OR Bachelor's degree in engineering AND Master's degree in cybernetics, engineering, mathematics, or business administration OR Bachelor's degree in mathematics AND Master's degree in cybernetics, engineering, mathematics, or business administration OR Bachelor's degree in any of the above AND a master's degree in information science, computer information systems, or information systems OR equivalent qualifications.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience in data science and machine learning is highly desirable.
