Job Overview

The Vice President of Commercial Finance plays a pivotal role in fostering and sustaining the unified dentsu relationship across various practices, including media, creative, and customer experience management (CXM), as well as across global regions for both existing and prospective clients. This position collaborates closely with account leaders to cultivate financially robust accounts through the formulation of measurable and attainable growth strategies, operational enhancements, and profitability-driven key account plans.

The VP of Commercial Finance is responsible for overseeing commercial agreements, financial reporting, and daily operations from both a commercial and financial perspective. This role assists account leaders with all financial deliverables, including reporting, reconciliations, and staffing plan evaluations. The VP will work in conjunction with various team leaders across the organization and sister agency finance teams to ensure that the financial and commercial aspects of client relationships are effectively communicated, monitored, and managed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the commercial and financial strategy for integrated accounts, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of client relationships to drive growth and enhance profitability.
  • Negotiate contracts and service agreements with clients.
  • Assist account leaders in preparing for annual negotiations, analyses, and executive presentations, including the management of client staffing plans.
  • Facilitate pricing discussions and implement best practices.
  • Collaborate with client leads and sister agencies to ensure consistent compliance with contracts.
  • Ensure accuracy in all reporting commitments, including staff utilization and value-based reporting.
  • Develop and distribute ad-hoc financial reports and models as required.
  • Provide analytical support and conduct financial analyses for business leaders.
  • Monitor global client profitability and major revenue forecasts.
  • Manage pipeline opportunities within the CRM system.
  • Enhance reporting processes and establish a "Center of Excellence" for select initiatives.

New Client Acquisition Support

  • Champion the commercial narrative in new client pitches.
  • Design innovative pricing models with clear messaging.
  • Address client needs through tailored commercial responses.

Client and Internal Relationship Management

  • Support the implementation of commercial initiatives across the Americas.
  • Build and maintain relationships with colleagues across the dentsu network related to financial and commercial processes.
  • Foster strong client relationships across multiple procurement and finance touchpoints.
  • Collaborate with the legal team to ensure contracts accurately reflect commercial relationships and mitigate risks.
  • Work with client teams to ensure revenue tracking systems are current.
  • Stay informed about changes to client budgets and modifications.
  • Maintain high ethical standards, including confidentiality and discretion.

Qualifications

  • 10-15 years of experience in a client finance or accounting role focused on commercial aspects.
  • Proven experience in team management.
  • Strong understanding of client support and relationship management.
  • Extensive experience in negotiating contracts and service agreements.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects effectively with strong follow-through skills.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Superior organizational abilities and attention to detail.
  • Experience in budgeting and forecasting.
  • Familiarity with international agency networks is a plus.
  • Understanding of the importance of strict internal controls and risk identification in commercial arrangements.
