JOB TITLE: QUALITY ASSURANCE SPECIALISTJOB LOCATION: WINDSOR, CTDEPARTMENT: QUALITY ASSURANCE | FLAVOR COMPLIANCEDEPARTMENT HEAD: R&D MANAGERPOSITION DETAILSJOB PURPOSEProvides technical and process support to ensure Food Safety and Quality of all products produced within the facility. Performs inspections for compliance of all quality programs and processes. Participates in employee training (GMP, HACCP, Food Safety, Quality programs), compliance with applicable food laws, verification of HACCP plans, and provides assistance in the development of quality policies.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESWork with flavor compliance manager to ensure effective application of quality management techniques.Communicate and collaborate cross-functionally to assist the team in solving quality issues.Identify efforts of product/process quality and cost management opportunities to achieve productivity gains.Document control for SQF, Organic, Halal, Kosher, and incoming raw materials.Ensure all internal and external sanitation/environmental programs are complete and properly meet quality standards.Design and implement programs to monitor calibration and accuracy of all analytical procedures and equipment in the plant.Ensure compliance with the OSHA chemical hygiene plan and proper laboratory safety practices.Participate in training in the area of Food Safety, regulatory requirements, and quality measurement systems to appropriate personnel.Working with the flavor compliance manager to develop/implement/monitor all food safety/SQF policies and procedures.Support regulatory in customer and regulatory audits.This role requires regular presence on the plant floor.Performs other duties and tasks as assigned.WORKING CONDITIONSLaboratory and production setting in a chemical manufacturing facility.SUPERVISION RECEIVEDDirect report to QA Flavor Compliance Manager.SUPERVISION EXERCISEDN/ADIRECT REPORTSN/AQUALIFICATIONSMINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS2-5 years of relevant experience working in the food and beverage or related chemical manufacturing industry.PREFERRED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS2-5 years of relevant experience in the flavor industry.MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIREMENTSBachelor s degree in chemistry, biology, or related field.PREFERRED EDUCATION REQUIREMENTSAs above.REQUIREDSKILLSExcellent attention to detail.Strong problem-solving abilities.Good communication skills.Able to handle multiple projects simultaneously. Set and maintain a good example in all aspects of conduct including attendance, timekeeping, courtesy, and compliance with company and management directives.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSAbility to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time.Ability to withstand various odors and smells.Light to medium lifting may occasionally be required.Important Note.
