About this Role

The Service Desk Technician will support company employees seeking technical assistance with technology devices, software, and/or access to technology resources.  The Service Desk Technician will respond to queries both locally and remotely, assess and diagnose problems, and implement effective solutions.

What You'll Do
  • Perform remote troubleshooting through diagnostic techniques and pertinent questions
  • Determine the best solution based on the issue and details provided by employees
  • Walk staff through the problem-solving process
  • Direct unresolved issues to the next level of support personnel
  • Assist staff with hardware and software challenges
  • Maintain working components through repair or replacement
  • Assist call-ins or in-person walk ups with technical difficulties
  • Facilitate staff's ability to access technology through standard processes
  • Record events and problems and their resolution in logs
  • Document staff technology interactions through the company's ticket system
  • Installation, configuration and troubleshooting of workstation PCs and other computer-related hardware
  • Identify problems, research answers, and guiding staff through corrective steps
  • Provide help-desk support and resolve problems to user's satisfaction
  • Maintain system configurations, utilities, software default settings, etc.
  • Install, test and configure new workstations, peripheral equipment and software
  • Assist with on-boarding of new users, assign users and computers to proper groups
  • Provide basic computer training
  • Perform basic computer maintenance
  • Follow company standards, and document internal procedures
  • Identify and suggest possible improvements on procedures
  • Regularly communicate with staff regarding ongoing issues, and provide support to questions
  • Work a standard 40 hours per week, with occasional after hours on-call rotation
  • All other duties as assigned
What You'll Bring
  • Knowledge of different operating systems, network administration and service desk administration
  • Advanced knowledge of mobile devices and tablets
  • Ability to troubleshoot desktop software and hardware
  • Ability to troubleshoot mobile devices and tablets
  • Ability to provide fast and effective support over the phone and in person
  • Strong analytical and technical problem-solving skills, with the ability to resolve basic technical issues
  • Excellent diagnostic skills, with the ability to solve difficult and complex problems
  • Outstanding organizational and time management skills, with strong attention to detail
  • Proficient in the use of Windows Operating Systems
  • Excellent high-level verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Required Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • 18 Months Experience in an IT Service Desk Role or Equivalent

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Associate’s Degree OR
  • Completion of Technology Trade School Program
  • 3+ Years’ Experience in an IT Service Desk Role supporting 100+ employees

Preferred Licenses/Certifications

  • CompTIA A+ Certification or Equivalent
