Business Development Executive:

Job Purpose
The Business Development Executive position directly engages with prospective customers within a defined geographic territory in order to drive sales growth opportunities for the company. This position is focused on building a strong relationship with new and existing customers to generate and close sales opportunities. This position will be responsible for managing the Sales program in order to develop strong client relationships through effective communications in all aspects of the sale process including initiation, contract negotiation and closing. The Business Development Executive will lead market entry by leveraging existing and new customer relationships to expand company"s business portfolio.

Duties & Responsibilities
* Introducing company to prospective new customers and making sure decision makers understand the benefits of company and how it compares to other fabricators/erectors.
* Identify and penetrate target markets to solicit business and gain bid invites.
* Identify new business opportunities within different industries to improve competitiveness.
* Make regular contact with prospective customers in order to effectively cultivate a business relationship.
* Conduct market research to identify selling possibilities and evaluate customer needs.
* Sales Accountability: Reports on sales results, market conditions or account metrics.
* Ability to review Construction documents, Structural Steel plans, specifications and understand scope of work to bid.
* General understanding of material pricing for various steel shapes.
* Possesses a general understanding of structural steel erection phases, time units for various erection phases, requirements for crane size and location and other general equipment requirements.
* Consults with clients, vendors, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
* Interfaces with others within the organization to obtain support and commitment to the cost estimates.
* Informs the immediate supervisor of any observed inaccuracies or omissions in quoted items.
* Attends departmental meetings and customer scope reviews as required.
* Ensure the highest quality and innovative approaches for RFP responses to maximize win rates.

Job Requirements

Requirements:
Bachelor"s degree (BS/BA) in business administration, industrial engineering, or related field or a combination of relevant work experience.

10 years" experience in the Steel Industry or similar industry with a minimum of 3 - 5 years in a Sales/Business Development Role managing and leading a team.

Industry Relations including but not limited to Structural Steel, Misc. Metals, and Heavy commercial (I.e. transportation infrastructure)

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills at all levels in the organization, Customers and Vendors; proven ability to effectively influence and motivate others; must be able to deal with ambiguity and various changing requirements.
* Engagement and collaboration with cross-functional groups, including management to develop strategic sales programs.

Demonstrated successful project management skills and the ability to contribute to strategic decisions, while driving detailed implementation plans.
* Dynamic communication abilities; persuasive and energetic

Strong sense of urgency and ability to work through bid process and address customer needs and request and balancing business needs.

Working Conditions
Employee may be required to travel 30% of the time within the Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New York Territories.
This is a full-time position, and the hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Some flexibility in hours is allowed, which needs to be discussed and approved by the reporting manager in advance and must work 40 hours each week to maintain full-time status.
This position regularly requires long hours and frequent local travel.
