Overview

The title officer is responsible for searching real estate records, examining titles, and summarizing pertinent legal or title insurance documents and details for a variety of purposes related to real estate. They must have the ability to work in a fast-paced operation with an ever-growing customer base. Have experience with or an interest in working with senior underwriters. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.

Duties

• Responsible for preparing title commitments, working closely with escrow officers to clear requirements and exceptions listed
• Responsible for reviewing intricate closing documents to confirm they meet statutory recording requirements and any commitment requirements for clearing title and complete the recording once requirements have been met and all instructions have been complied with
• Must be familiar with individual municipalities, county clerks, property appraisers and tax collectors
• This includes the review of title searches to complete title work, review of closing documents, and assistance in clearing complicated title issues
• Knowledge of state statues to clear title related items such as parties that are deceased, community property issues, judgements, etc
• Participate in required monthly title department meetings
• Knowledge of current filed rates to property calculate title premiums to be compliant with insurance regulations
• Participate in continuing education with MLTA and current title claim issues
• Work well with escrow officers and customers in addressing title matters
• Play an active role in knowing and supporting the Company precepts
• Build and grow long lasting relationships with customers and team members
• Participate in community and industry events
• Undertake such additional duties as assigned by Company leadership team

Education

High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience

• They must have the ability to work in a fast-paced operation with an ever-growing customer base.
• Have experience with or an interest in working with senior underwriters.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
• Must have the ability to multi-task and possess a high level of verbal and written communication skills.
• Technology Proficiencies with Office programs, SoftPro and different Title Plants.
• 3+ years experience in title insurance industry or equivalent experience.
