Overview

The Health Systems Program Administrator will serve as a team lead for the infectious disease epidemiology work in the Division of Local Health. A team of nurses and infectious disease epidemiologists who work in local health offices across the state are responsible for investigating reportable diseases, participating in outbreak investigations, and providing prophylaxis, treatment, and disease control recommendations in a culturally, socially, linguistically, and behaviorally appropriate way. As team lead, the Health Systems Program Administrator will conduct reportable illness work, and hold additional leadership responsibilities. These additional responsibilities include:
* Work to eliminate differences in infectious disease health outcomes due to inequity.
* Serve as an infectious disease subject matter expert and provide support and technical assistance to local infectious disease epidemiologists.
* Write and maintain local protocols and procedures.
* Assist with hiring, orientation, and training of local epidemiologists.
* Liaise with state level infectious disease epidemiology staff.
* Lead team meetings.
* Ensure adequate daily staffing.
* Monitor assignment of cases and workload balance among the team.
* Maintain and communicate relevant situational awareness to Division of Local Health leadership across the 12 local health offices.
* Use data to monitor routine quality measures and create and share summary reports of local investigations within the division and with state level staff.
* Participate in emergency response efforts, as needed.
This position requires occasional work outside standard work hours. In all the work there is a dedication to creating fair and just opportunities for all Vermont residents and visitors to be healthy.

Environmental Factors

Duties are primarily performed in a standard office setting. Some travel is required for which private means of transportation should be available. Public speaking and attendance at public meetings may be required. Some work outside normal office hours may be required.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree or higher in public health, science, environmental studies, social work or public administration AND two (2) years or more of professional level experience in a community, clinical, academic, state/federal or public health setting.

OR

Bachelor's degree in public health, science, environmental studies, social work or public administration AND five (5) years or more of professional level experience in a community, clinical, academic, state/federal or public health setting.

Preferred Qualifications

Supervisory experience.
