Overview

The Vermont Department of Human Resources (DHR) seeks an HR Administrator to join a team supporting the Agency of Administration, the Agency of Digital Services, and various smaller departments. The ideal candidate will be detail oriented and work effectively with all levels of employees and management, organize, and prioritize work effectively and adapt to changing demands in a fast-paced environment. Duties will include varying degrees of transactional systems work and administrative functions in hiring and onboarding, position management, records management, and medical leave requests. Well-developed interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills are required. Proficient in Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel.



Excellent organizational skills are necessary to coordinate and process a large volume of work. The successful candidates must also demonstrate their ability to evaluate, interpret, and provide guidance on human resources-related policy or procedure. Ability to work independently, deliver accurate and timely work, and have an aptitude and interest to learn are all key to success in this position.



The Department is currently supporting a hybrid telework environment, with some in person work required.

Environmental Factors

Duties are performed largely in a standard office setting but some travel may be required for which private means of transportation should be available. Some work outside of regular work schedule may be required. Strong differences of opinion may be encountered.

Minimum Qualifications

Two (2) years or more in an administrative role that includes customer service and computer experience involving use of spreadsheets, databases, and/or e-mail communications.

Preferred Qualifications

Human resources or payroll experience.

Experience in public employment.
