Job Summary: The Information Security Engineer II participates in a comprehensive information security program to ensure security technology, tools, processes, procedures, reporting, and remediation are put into place and maintained to protect the University's computing assets from unauthorized access, modification, destruction, or disclosure. Selects, implements, manages, and operates various moderate-complexity security infrastructure components. Monitors and maintains security tools and systems. Backs up triage of alerts, tickets, and incidents as needed. Guides Security Analysts in resolution of alerts as needed. Researches and protects against new tools, attack methods, and threat actors. Completes training to increase security knowledge and skills. Participates on projects to assess information security risks and ensures compliance with University security policy including industry and governmental compliance. Provides guidance and training to entry-level Information Security staff.

Additional Department Summary: Oversees SIEM management and maintenance, management of EDR platforms, management of multifactor authentication platforms, endpoint security, and security awareness.

Required Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree; OR bachelor's degree and two (2) years of IT security engineering experience; OR associate's degree and four (4) years of IT experience to include two (2) years of IT security engineering; OR High school diploma or GED and six (6) years of IT experience to include two (2) years of IT security engineering.

Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Certified Information Systems Security Professional certification (CISSP) or other information security certification. Knowledge of advanced programming, networking, system, or security technology skills or knowledge of project management methods and applications. May require advanced level training or certification. The candidate must be willing to obtain and maintain security certifications upon employment. If candidate does not possess CISSP certification, candidate must pass CISSP exam within 6 months of employment.
