What You'll Do:

We are currently seeking a Plant Manager at our Ada Football Factory, who is responsible for all production activities in the Ada plant, including safety of all team members, driving Lean Manufacturing initiatives, quality of the product, production efficiency, shipping and receiving, plant financials and budgets, etc. This individual is also responsible for planning, implementation, and maintenance of the manufacturing activities and will ensure the effective use of materials, equipment, and manpower in producing quality products.

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide leadership and direction (including mentoring and training) to maintain a positive culture within the plant as related to Wilsons purpose, vision and values while accomplishing company goals and objectives.
  • Manage manufacturing-related projects in conjunction with the Manufacturing Engineering team such as monitoring Takt times, developing and improving workflow in the fabrication of parts, components, sub-assemblies and final assemblies
  • Working closely with the Plant Controller to develop and execute plant manufacturing budgets, provide accurate manufacturing costs to insure adherence to positive manufacturing variances.
  • Optimize manufacturing results through utilization of resources and assets while eliminating waste
  • Capture key performance metrics by gathering operational performance data, evaluating results and managing corrective actions
  • Commit to plant safety guidelines. Optimize productivity through safety initiatives to include but not limited to developing ergonomics workstations, efficient tooling station layouts.
  • Interface with other functions to coordinate the release of product improvements and/or new products; drives manufacturing engineering deliverables throughout the products lifecycle.
  • Evaluate work methods, procedures and policies; identifies, documents and implements new business processes as required.
  • Provide guidance to engineering in the development of tooling and assist with sourcing activities for tooling manufacture. Create and maintain the documentation for equipment operation, standard operating procedures.
  • Build relationships with internal and external suppliers to maintain a positive environment and constructively resolve sourcing issues
  • Coordinate the relationship with our union workforce and negotiate union contracts in partnership with the People & Culture team.
  • Other duties as assigned.


What We're Looking For :

We are seeking candidates with a minimum of 8 years of hands-on plant/general management experience in a manufacturing environment; a Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Operations, or a related area strongly preferred.

Other qualifications include:

  • Previous management experience in a union environment is a must
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing systems and managing cultural change within an organization
  • Demonstrated leadership, teambuilding, and coaching skills with the confidence to lead cross-functional teams and successfully manage highly visible projects
  • Ability to motivate people and assess/develop employee skills
  • Thorough understanding of all aspects of manufacturing operations, including order management/ERP, scheduling, inventory control, BOM, WIP, option configurations, material flow, logistics, packaging requirements, quality inspections, and defective material disposition.
  • Knowledge of best practices implementing continuous improvement and Lean tools and processes, including the capability to lead Kaizen events and implement site-wide improvements like 5S
  • Knowledgeable in the use of DFx principles to reduce product costs and improve product quality and performance
  • Knowledge of problem-solving tools like FMEA, DMAIC, 8d, etc.
  • Strong understanding of budgeting with a basic understanding of finance and accounting principles
  • Broad understanding of safety systems and enforcement of safety policies
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills
  • Highly motivated and results-oriented
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and SAP
