Responsibilities

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Sponsored Programs, the Grants and Financial Analyst will be responsible for managing an independent research portfolio of faculty members with a wide range of complex research projects.

The main responsibilities will manage Pre-Award and Post Awards for the New York Blood Center and all its affiliates, including the development and management of various complex government, foundation and corporate grants and contracts that support medical research.

Coordinates and provides pre-award activities including, but not limited to:

  • Responding to the PI's initial request of an upcoming proposal submission in a timely matter.
  • Review and interpret submission guidelines.
  • Coordinate and communicate submission requirements and targeting deadlines, both internally to submitting PI and externally to subaward institutions if the application involves external participants.
  • Prepare submission budget and budget justification with PI input while adhering to sponsor guidelines.
  • Reviewing, revising, and uploading submission documents to application portal for final submission by sponsor deadline.

Administers post-award activities:

  • Monthly account reconciliation: review financials and related backups to ensure expenses are charged correctly and appropriately to the right account.
  • Personnel salary and effort allocation.
  • Assisting the submission of scientific and financial reporting.
  • Reviewing reimbursements and invoices to ensure charges are proper.
  • Create and manage subaward agreements between NYBC and outside institutions as needed.
  • Monitoring expenses to ensure they are complying Sponsored Projects policies.

Other:

  • Act as a departmental point of contact and resource.
  • Ensure faculty members' funding portfolios (grants, contracts, gift funds, and discretionary funds such as start-up funding) are properly managed. Attend and participate in meetings with PIs.
  • Participate in and contribute to process improvements and group projects.
  • Setup and extend awards in the ERP financial system.
  • Continuous updating laws, regulations and internal policies that apply to departmental financial transactions and projects.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in education, training and experience.

Experience:

  • Two years of experience performing related duties.

Preferred:

  • Experience working federal government electronic portals such as NIH ASSIST, eRA Commons, grants.gov, etc.
  • Familiarity with sponsored project financial grants management.

For applicants who will perform this position in New York City or Westchester County, the proposed annual salary is $66,000.00 p/yr. to $75,000.00 p/yr. For applicants who will perform this position outside of New York City or Westchester County, salary will reflect local market rates and be commensurate with the applicant's skills, job-related knowledge, and experience.
