Position Overview

We are currently seeking a Grants Accountant II to join our Fiscal Program team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Billing and Accounts Receivable: Oversee the monthly analysis and timely invoicing of all assigned government and foundation contracts.
  • Ensure precise and timely billing on a monthly, quarterly, or semi-annual basis for all relevant contracts.
  • Engage with government agencies regarding any questioned expenditures to maximize funds received.
  • Verify fund collections with Accounts Receivable, ensuring accuracy in ledger balances for assigned contracts.
  • Provide regular updates on cash flow analysis for managed contracts.
  • Educate program staff on proper expenditure coding.
  • Conduct monthly reconciliations for grants to confirm compliance with funder and agency guidelines.
  • Assist in budget development and modifications in collaboration with program staff and government agencies.
  • Prepare cash flow projections during budget processes and communicate submission deadlines.
  • Facilitate training for program staff on interpreting budget-to-actual financial variance reports.
  • Analyze financial variances and communicate findings with program teams.
  • Administrative Duties: Maintain comprehensive and accurate grant files.
  • Support funder and financial statement audits.
  • Collaborate with the Operational Accounting unit for cost center management.
  • Act as a liaison for Finance and Human Resources to resolve issues effectively.
  • Participate in professional training sessions to stay updated on funder requirements.
  • Engage in special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in nonprofit accounting.
  • Bachelor's degree with at least 3 years of related experience in nonprofit accounting.
  • Non-degree candidates must have a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in nonprofit accounting.
  • Strong knowledge of financial planning and analysis.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly advanced Excel skills.
  • Familiarity with accounting software such as Intacct/Nexonia is advantageous.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to use a computer for extended periods.
  • Capacity to stand, walk, or sit for long durations.
  • Ability to bend and retrieve documents as necessary.
  • Willingness to travel within designated areas via public transportation.
  • Ability to travel at least 1 mile in various weather conditions when required.
