Responsibilities This position is located at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Office of Field Operations (OFO) in a Port of Entry of Field Office. The position is responsible for supervising mission support positions who provide services in direct support of operational programs. The position plans, directs, coordinates and supervises a staff charged with responsibility for providing and obtaining a full range of mission support services. Services provided include, but are not limited to, management analysis, personnel management, financial management, office services and systems support. This position starts at a salary of $105,569.00 (GS-13, Step 1) to $137,243.00 (GS-13, Step 10). You will serve as a supervisor to a group of administrative employees who are responsible for assessing the productivity, effectiveness, and efficiency of program operations or who analyze and resolve problems in the effectiveness and efficiency of administrative support and staff activities. Planning the work to be accomplished by your subordinates, set and adjust short-term priorities, prepare schedules for completion of the work. Providing complex administrative services, including, but not limited to, financial management, management and information systems, budget, finance, procurement, personnel, telecommunications, logistics, records and files, printing, mail, travel, and office equipment. Planning, directing, coordinating and supervising a staff charged with responsibility for providing and obtaining a full range of mission support services. Qualifications Experience: You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Making decisions and resolving problems involving interpretation of the law or unusual situations requiring interpretation and application of DHS policy. Devising new methods or procedures for accomplishing work to solve productivity problems. Coordinating with other unit supervisors and peers to establish unit objectives, goals, priorities, and deadlines, and to formulate plans to meet substantial changes in workload. Establishing and carrying out specific action plans for accomplishing short-term goals and objectives. You must: Meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process; and Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by 05/17/2024. Additional Information Supervisory Probationary Period: You may be required to serve an 18 month probationary period upon appointment. Leadership Training: All newly appointed first-time CBP Supervisors are required to complete mandatory training. The training will be scheduled by the Office of Training and Development within the first 90 days of appointment. The duration of the training will include 3 weeks of in residence training in Harpers Ferry, WV. Note: This training may be waived if previously completed.
