Axient is seeking a Sentinel Combined Test Force (CTF) Loads and Environments Test Engineer This position is to provide advisory and assistance services to the Air Force. This is a senior-level position located at Hill Air Force Base (HAFB), as part of the ICBM Lead Developmental Test & Evaluation Organization (LDTO), under the 804th Test Group affiliated with Arnold Engineering and Development Complex and will provide oversight of Sentinel ICBM (formerly GBSD) CTF test activities to provide independent and objective analysis and results to the SPO (System Program Office) and Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center (AFNWC) stakeholders.

What you will do...:

Duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide technical support to the ICBM CTF LDTO in development test and evaluation (T&E) activities for AFNWC missile systems.
  • Work as part of a multi-disciplinary government and contractor team to plan, test, analyze, and report through multiple program acquisition phases.
  • Lead developmental test & evaluation oversight of loads and environments activities to assess performance against stated program requirements.
  • Participate in LDTO modeling and simulation verification & validation efforts during DT&E to support operational test agency accreditation of system models.
  • Review requirements and analyses associated structural integrity, survivability, reliability, dynamic properties, and physical characteristics.
  • Coordinate with the program office and contractor to develop, review, and implement test plans for all levels of builds.
  • Prepare Technical Review Board (TRB) documents and brief the CTF as appropriate.
  • Represent the Sentinel CTF as designated test witness for testing associated with structural, stress, and dynamics qualifications.
  • Author/co-author assessments of test outcomes to provide independent technical input to the AFNWC program office.
  • Maintain cognizance of all assigned CTF/Test Team engineering activities.
  • Assess test support and systems integration progress and trends of testing, identify problems and areas of concern for assigned systems.
  • Support periodic reviews of test support and systems integration test results and test plan status. Participate in Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) and Integrated Test Teams (ITTs) as appropriate.


Skills you will need...:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must have or be able to obtain a Top Secret DoD security clearance.
  • A Masters degree in engineering discipline required. Eight years experience can be substituted for education beyond the bachelors level if waived by government customer.
  • Proficiency in structural/stress assessments is required.
  • Proficiency with software applications such as Ansys, Abaqus, SolidWorks, and Nastran is desired.
  • At least three years of experience with shock and vibration testing is highly desired.
  • Work is timely, efficient and of acceptable quality. Completed work meets project/program objectives.
  • Personal and organizational interactions exhibit and foster cooperation and teamwork, enhance customer relations, and actively promote rapport with customers
  • Communications are clear, concise, and at appropriate level.
  • Focused adherence to safety and security requirements.
  • Familiarity with test & evaluation planning and processes consistent with DoD acquisition directives and policies is highly desired.
  • Familiarity with ICBM weapon systems is highly desired.
  • Must be willing to travel up to 10%.
