Staff Accountant II

Under minimal supervision, this position is responsible for coordinating approval of accounts payable invoices and reviewing for appropriate taxability and general ledger coding. This position also performs a variety of other general accounting functions.
Location:
Tempe, AZ
Primary responsibilities:
Month-end closing, balance sheet reconciliations, ad-hoc reporting, audit assistance and governmental reporting
Provide direction and establish priorities for other staff as appointed
Reviews coding and ensures proper approval on accounts payable invoices
Collects, analyzes, and records fixed assets, and prepares depreciation and other fixed asset schedules
Coordinates physical inventory counts
Reviews detailed transactions and tracks, calculates, and records various tax accruals including property, sales/use, and excise taxes
Prepares and files state annual reports, property taxes, etc.
Reconciles subsidiary ledger to general ledger and prepares adjustments
Prepares journal entries for monthly closings
Participates in system updates
Train associates as directed
Deliver quality customer service to all team members, customers, and stakeholders
Perform all assigned duties in compliance with internal SOPs and external regulations
Bring any compliance issues to the attention of management
Required competencies, knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Ability to work in a team environment
Efficient oral and written communication skills
Strong organization and analytical skills
Ability to work well with all levels of staff and management
Must maintain confidentiality
Must possess the skills and abilities to successfully perform all assigned duties and responsibilities
Must be able to pass a drug test and background check aligned with company, licensing, and accreditation standards
Required certifications, licenses, education, and experience:
Five years accounting experience required
Preferred education, competencies, knowledge, skills, and abilities:
SAP Experience
