Position Overview:
Under the guidance of supervisory staff, a Laboratory Support Specialist (LSS) engages in a variety of administrative tasks and prepares standard specimens while performing supportive functions to facilitate testing processes.
Responsibilities include unpacking and documenting samples received in compliance with established regulations and protocols. Collaborates with team members to ensure prompt and accurate test outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
The following duties are typically assigned to LSS levels I, II, III, and IV:
- Execute all assigned tasks in adherence to internal standard operating procedures (SOPs) and external regulations.
- Report compliance issues to management.
- Maintain acceptable attendance and punctuality in accordance with the absence policy.
- Deliver quality customer service to all stakeholders.
- Keep precise records and documentation, perform data entry, and ensure confidentiality of donor, patient, and employee information.
- Prepare and manage inventory.
- Pack and ship supplies and/or specimens.
- Ensure cleanliness of equipment and workspaces.
- Assist in the handling of bio-waste, specimens, and micro-plates.
- Receive and prepare samples as directed.
- Drive company vehicles for deliveries and pickups.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Additional Responsibilities for LSS Levels II, III, and IV:
- Unpack samples received from various sources.
- Accession samples for testing, identifying any unacceptable or missing samples, labels, or documentation, and report discrepancies to the supervisor.
- Order laboratory reagents and supplies.
- Handle sample receipt, accessioning, and disposition.
- Assist with equipment maintenance.
- Communicate relevant information to customers as directed.
Qualifications:
Education:
High School diploma or equivalent is required.
A valid in-state driver's license is necessary where applicable.
LSS Level II:
Must demonstrate competency in all LSS I and II tasks.
LSS Level III:
Requires at least 1 year of clinical laboratory experience and demonstrated competency in all LSS II and III tasks.
LSS Level IV:
Requires at least 1 year of clinical laboratory experience, including prior experience as a Laboratory Support Specialist at Creative Testing Solutions, and demonstrated competency in all LSS I, II, III, and IV tasks.
Preferred Qualifications:
Trainer Certification is preferred, especially for LSS IVs in Plasma Services.
Skills and Abilities:
Must possess the necessary skills and abilities to effectively perform all assigned duties and responsibilities. Key skills include:

Physical & Travel Requirements:
Physical Demands:
5+ hours per shift: Sitting, Standing, Handling, Finger Dexterity, Pinching.
3-5 hours per shift: Lifting up to 40 pounds.
Up to 3 hours per shift: Walking, Climbing, Bending, Squatting, Reaching, Grasping, and Driving.
Travel:
Minimal travel required (
