(GEM) is seeking an ***Assessment Team Member*** *with a focus in* ***Fire Protection*** to join our team that provides integral mission support to the DOE. The ideal candidate can assess the adequacy of operational readiness by conducting reviews to ensure a successful execution of the assessment. + Responsible for assessing the adequacy of operational readiness by conducting reviews in selected areas.

+ Assist the Team Leader and Senior Advisor in defining the depth of review in their assigned areas.

+ Develop or provide input to the IP's development, especially the criteria and review approach document(s) for the functional area(s) to which they are assigned, subject to approval by the Senior Advisor and the Team Leader.

+ Identify appropriate facility supporting documentation (e.g., applicable procedures, as-built drawings, etc.) to prepare for and conduct the assessment.

+ Ensure all activities and operations are performed in a safe and deliberate manner.

+ Conduct the review in accordance with the criteria and performance objectives in the IP or as assigned by the Team Leader.

+ Review facility supporting documentation.

+ Determine whether the operation complies with applicable environmental requirements and Federal and state laws and regulations.

+ Attend team meetings to coordinate activities with other team members.

+ Work with other assessment team personnel to ensure timely resolution of the unresolved questions and concerns.

+ Document their activities, findings, and conclusions in a manner specified by the Team Leader and the Senior Advisor.

+ Assist the Team Leader and Senior Advisor in preparing the final report Concur with the determination of readiness to commence nuclear operations and the conclusions presented in the assessment report in the team members' area of assessment.

+ Ensure procedural and regulatory compliance.

**Requirements**

+ Bachelor's degree and 10+ years of relevant experience; additional years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

+ Must have technical knowledge of the area assigned for evaluation (Fire Protection) that includes experience working in the technical area.

+ Knowledge of performance-based assessment processes and methods gained through experience as an auditor or inspector or through training that is evaluated as acceptable by the Team Leader.

+ Facility-specific information that may be gained through a combination of required reading and facility tours and presentations.

+ Independence, in that no team member may review his or her own work or work for which he or she was the responsible manager.

+ Ability to commit the necessary time and effort to fully support the assessment schedule.

+ Due to the nature of the work, candidate must be able to *obtain and maintain* and government-issued security clearance.

+ Due to the nature of the work, a U.S. Citizenship is *required*.
