What you'll do:

The Brass Tacks

Strategic/Department
  • Responsible for the development, management, and execution of yearly sales and event strategy with the underlying goal of generating revenue.
  • Collaborates with Director of Marketing and Events to align all business goals to achieve overall property objectives.
  • Manage department revenue and expense budget relative to quarterly and yearly goals.
  • Proactively solicit new business by, among other things, making sales calls, attending trade shows, and engaging in other sales prospecting activities to increase the potential client database.
  • Maintains and conducts industry research, and property data analytics to project future business volume
  • Oversees the development and revenue generation of all private event sales, ensuring goals are met and exceeded.
  • Meets and exceeds expectations for department gross revenue (all sales verticals, promotional events, etc.).
  • Proficient in contractual clauses and terms & conditions.
  • Maintains department compliance with accounting standards (deposits, direct billing, and pre-payment).
  • Reports weekly achievements for prospecting, inquiries, activities, and industry events.
  • Reports monthly achievements and ensures financial accuracy (P&L, sales & event platform, and deposits/AR).
  • Maintains department standards and implements systems, including sales & event platform administration/management.
  • Provides overall direction, coordination, and leadership for all private event sales and event management to department heads and managers.
  • Acts as point of contact with clients through the entire private event sales and event management cycle.
  • Creates Banquet Event Orders, Run-of-Shows, and any type of sales and event program management for departments.
  • Primary support for all group sales outreach, negotiations, contractual review, planning and service.
  • Ensures all applicable standards, policies and procedures are fully implemented an adhered in all departments.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
Individual
  • Achieves SMART goals assigned
  • Meets and exceeds expectations for revenue growth of private events
  • Focus on client relationship building including new business development and networking industry events
  • Achieve prospecting and sales activity goals
  • Responds to inbound RFP's (requests for proposals) in a timely manner, typically less than 24 hours
  • Knowledgeable with client negotiations, closing tactics, and contractual language
  • Responsible for forecasting revenue on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis
  • Develops and maintains favorable working relationships and open communication with all department managers
  • Creates a seamless experience for the client from sales to event management
The Nitty Gritty
  • Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) from four-year college or university, or 7+years' experience in a sales management role at a hotel, or similar environment.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to write contracts, reports, business correspondence, and operations manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from team members, managers, clients, guests, or the general public
  • Strong leadership and critical thinking skills
  • Emotional Intelligence (EQ)
  • The ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • The ability to solve practical problems when only limited standardization exists.
  • Working knowledge of all applicable laws, codes, and regulations
  • Strong computer skills: Full knowledge of Microsoft Office with an emphasis on Outlook, Excel, and Word. Event Planning Program knowledge, such as STS, Hubspot, Tripleseat, is required. Knowledge of room diagramming/layout program preferred.
