Responsibilities Assist the Senior Grants & Contracts Specialist and departmental researchers with development and preparation of proposals for submission to prospective federal and state agencies, as well as various private foundations. Coordinate with the Office of Sponsored Projects to facilitate timely and accurate proposal submission, review and final approval. Assist the Senior Grants & Contracts Specialist and faculty leads on proposal development and submission of NIH Institutional Training Grants, coordinating with over 50 contributing faculty to ensure adherence to all Special Terms and Conditions. Maintain institutional training grant records. Review sponsor guidelines to ensure eligibility for submission and compliance of proposal documents such as budgets, justifications, bio-sketches, and other necessary forms to ensure all requirements of the funding agency and the university are met. Assist researchers with additional sponsor information such as JIT requests, review of PI support documents for compliance, and documentation of adherence to institutional, federal and state requirements for the performance of research. Utilize internal and/or external systems associated with electronic proposal and subcontract submissions (i.e., UT Research Management System (UTRMS), eRA Commons, NSF FastLane, ORCID, NIH Commons, Cayuse, SciENcv, Grants.gov, etc.), including troubleshooting issues with systems as needed. Reconcile all research grant accounts monthly to ensure compliance with cost expenditure regulations and prepare reports for the Assistant Director. Manage account transfers and transaction corrections. Support other department administrative office staff by assisting with various projects. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree with at least three years of experience in the research, preparation, processing, and negotiation of research grants and contract proposals. Experience with both federal grants and non-profit philanthropic grants. Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team in a high-volume office with multiple deadlines. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Preferred Qualifications More than 3 years of grant preparation and support experience. Experience working with government agencies, foundations, etc. Experience composing strategic communications and copy-editing proposals. Successful record of managing a high-volume of proposal submissions with competing deadlines accurately and in a timely manner. Experience working with UT Austin grants management and financial systems and familiarity with UT System policies, systems, and procedures. Experience with external grant submission systems.
