As a Property Specialist, you will be responsible for completing risk engineering assessments to evaluate potential exposures that could result in property loss and subsequent business interruption. Using your consulting skills, you will communicate findings of your assessment to site management and Travelers business partners. You will serve as a technical resource and mentor to other risk control consultants. The Property Specialist is a self-starter and has the ability to handle the most complex assignments, incorporating your technical ability and customer service expectations. The position has high visibility. Additionally, the Property Specialist will exhibit exceptional technical skills, hold an engineering or fire sciences degree, coupled with a minimum of five years’ HPR experience or comparable proficiency. This position influences, but does not manage others. What Will You Do? Conduct specialist Risk Assessment surveys at complex applicant or written client locations to determine potential hazards/risk factors and controls at the request of customers or to assist in underwriting/risk selection. Document findings and recommendations to Account Executives and/or clients. Consult with clients on ways to control hazards in order to reduce or mitigate losses. Serve as a technical expert resource to Risk Control Consultants and Underwriters. Build and maintain productive relationships with underwriting and service teams assigned to business units, with the broker/agent community, with Claim, and with other Risk Control staff. Maintain current knowledge of regulatory environment and emerging issues in the technical specialist discipline. Perform other duties as assigned. What is a Must Have? Degree in Fire Sciences or an engineering discipline required. 5 years’ experience in Property Loss Prevention/Risk Control required. What Is in It for You?
