Compensation Overview

The annual base salary range for this position reflects a nationwide market range and encompasses a wide spectrum of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary will be influenced by various factors, including the role's scope, complexity, and location; the candidate's skills, education, training, credentials, and experience; and other employment conditions. Additionally, as part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits package, employees may qualify for performance-based cash incentive awards.

Salary Range
$118,000 - $196,200.00

What Is the Opportunity?

Under general supervision, you will take ownership of the Property Technical Discipline within your designated territory. This includes conducting thorough Risk Assessments, assisting clients with Loss Control strategies, providing expert consultation to Staff and Business Partners, and identifying training needs for Regional Specialist Consultants (RSCs) and Staff. This role serves as a technical resource for Risk Control Consultants and Underwriters, as well as a mentor to peers. As a Senior Risk Control Specialist, you will manage complex assignments characterized by technical intricacies, customer service expectations, and high visibility. You will demonstrate exceptional technical capabilities alongside strong interpersonal skills and training proficiency. You may also assume some responsibilities of the Technical Director in their absence. Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct specialist Risk Assessment surveys at complex client locations to identify potential hazards and risk factors.
  • Document findings and recommendations for Account Executives and clients.
  • Advise clients on effective hazard control measures to minimize losses, providing flexible yet technically sound solutions.
  • Act as a technical expert for Risk Control Consultants and Underwriters.
  • Foster productive relationships with underwriting teams, brokers, claims, and clients.
  • Conduct research for underwriters or clients on relevant business classes or technical subjects.
  • Stay updated on regulatory changes and emerging issues in the technical discipline.
  • Serve as an Account Consultant for select National Property accounts.
  • Maintain timely communication with the Technical Director, Field Management, and Risk Control staff.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Ideal Candidate Qualifications
  • 8+ years of experience in Property/Highly Protected Risk (HPR) preferred.
  • Strong technical and interpersonal skills preferred.
  • Experience in technical training preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex technical information for diverse audiences.
  • Ability to influence others to act on recommendations.
  • Strong written communication skills.
  • Solid understanding of insurance products, services, and risk selection practices.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Risk Control performance standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Demonstrated expertise in the technical discipline.
  • Familiarity with relevant Risk Control software applications.
  • Ability to balance customer expectations with cost considerations.
  • Proven ability to build credibility with clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Effective workload management in alignment with business priorities.
  • Ability to identify opportunities for personal productivity improvement.
Essential Requirements
  • Degree in Fire Sciences or an engineering discipline required.
  • 5 years of experience in Property Loss Prevention/Risk Control required.
