Compensation Overview

The salary range for this position reflects a national market range and encompasses a wide array of salaries for this role across the country. The actual compensation will be influenced by various factors, including the role's scope, complexity, and location, as well as the candidate's skills, education, training, credentials, and experience. Additionally, employees may qualify for performance-based cash incentive awards as part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program.

Salary Range
$118,000 - $194,700.00

What Is the Opportunity?

This position reports to the AVP of Risk Control. With limited supervision, you will oversee a team of four in the Pacific Northwest, tasked with delivering Risk Control services while reporting to the AVP of the Western Risk Control Region. Responsibilities include managing work assignments, conducting performance evaluations with input from the AVP, guiding staff in skill enhancement, and serving as the Risk Control liaison to local business partners. You may also conduct risk assessment surveys at client sites and coordinate account services. Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Business Partners to support new business development and client retention; assess the needs of the business and the resources required from Risk Control.
  • Engage with the AVP and colleagues in the region to promote Risk Control initiatives and local projects.
  • Delegate work assignments to team members and utilize Specialists' expertise as needed.
  • Identify staff development needs and coordinate resources to facilitate professional growth.
  • Conduct staff co-surveys and Quality Reviews; provide on-the-spot coaching as necessary. Collaborate with Specialists, SMEs, mentors, and/or the Training Director to create coaching plans for skill enhancement.
  • Oversee and deliver Risk Control services to Large Commercial Accounts within the territory, including direct account management for select clients.
  • Actively partner with internal business associates as a marketing collaborator with the Managing Director/Account Executive to drive new business initiatives and growth.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with agency and broker partners to support local initiatives and marketing efforts.
  • Engage with Business Partners to comprehend their business strategies and initiatives, ensuring adequate Risk Control resources and staffing.
  • Communicate with internal and external partners to keep them informed about Risk Control resources, products, and services.
  • Participate in local underwriting meetings as an engaged member of the management team.
  • Conduct risk assessment surveys at client locations to assist in underwriting and risk selection.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Preferred graduate degree in a relevant field.
  • Typically requires 7-10 years of experience in Risk Control.
  • Strong understanding and technical knowledge of risk control principles for property and casualty lines is preferred.
  • Experience with an insurance carrier and some supervisory experience is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Proficient in conducting risk assessments for Property, Workers Compensation, General Liability, Products Liability, and Auto lines of business.
  • CSP, GSP, ARM, or similar certification is desirable but not required.
Essential Requirements
  • Undergraduate degree in science, occupational safety and health, engineering, or risk management is required.
  • 5+ years of experience in Risk Control or a related field is necessary.
  • A valid Driver's License is required.
