JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
Under direct supervision of the Director of Planning, this position is responsible for managing the activities of the Agua Caliente Water Authority (ACWA). The Water Resources Manager oversees water resource planning, implementation of Agua Caliente Water Authority Ordinance (Agua Caliente Tribal Code Chapter 7.12), and groundwater and surface water monitoring and management activities on the Reservation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties may be assigned)
- Direct short and long-range water planning activities including research, analysis, and issue identification, modeling, and related tasks.
- Consults with the ACWA Board on policy matters and operational issues, and develops goals and objectives of short and long-range policies, procedures and plans.
- Enforcement of Agua Caliente Water Authority Ordinance including issuance of groundwater production and well permits, collection of Groundwater Production Fees, and providing staff support to the ACWA Board.
- Manage the groundwater and surface water monitoring and sampling in accordance with the EPA 106 grant-funded program.
- Lead Tribal Representative in Local, Regional, State and Federal water management efforts.
- Supervise the activities of a Water Technician.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in environmental studies, biology, civil or environmental engineering or approved related field; AND
- Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in water resources planning, water conservation, laboratory analysis of water or wastewater, water quality, and regulatory compliance.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to stand, move and work throughout the office area and properties, including walking up to 1 mile, climbing stairs and sitting at a desk/work station for the duration of the shift.
Must be able to grasp, bend, lift and/or carry or otherwise move goods weighing a minimum of 25 lbs. on an intermittent basis, and sufficient dexterity of hand in order to use office equipment including, but not limited to: a computer keyboard, calculator, general office equipment and multi-line telephone.
