Position Summary:
CMA is seeking a Water Resources Engineer to engage in Aviation and Transportation projects. This role involves conducting hydraulic calculations for both closed drainage systems and open channel designs, analyzing stormwater management facilities, modeling water quality, managing stormwater permitting with regulatory agencies, and designing erosion control systems for Aviation and Transportation projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage in various aspects of civil engineering design, including plan preparation, permitting, and construction oversight within a collaborative project team.
  • Contribute to projects by collecting existing utility data, performing modeling and simulations, site grading, and stormwater permitting.
  • Create project design drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D and MicroStation/OpenRoads.
  • Develop specific detail drawings for projects.
  • Assist in preparing technical specifications, cost estimates, reports, schedules, and related documentation.
  • Learn and comply with client-specific standards.
  • Coordinate effectively with team members and client representatives.
  • Occasional travel to project sites for field investigations and construction support.
  • Manage project outlines, initiation, schedules, execution, and closeout.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary design teams.
  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic calculations for open channel designs, storm sewer systems, and culverts.
  • Conduct water quality and quantity calculations for stormwater management designs.
  • Prepare necessary permit application documentation and conduct permit research and reviews.
  • Support and cross-train with other civil disciplines as time allows.

Qualifications:

  • 0-2 years of experience considered; 2-5 years of relevant experience preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering from an ABET accredited institution is required.
  • Experience with transportation, aviation, and land development/site design projects is preferred.
  • Familiarity with software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, OpenRoads, HEC-RAS, ICPR, and HY8 is advantageous.
  • Excellent technical writing and organizational skills are essential.
  • Strong sense of urgency, project responsibility, and initiative are necessary.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills are required.

Preferred Additional Qualifications:

  • A master's degree is preferred.
  • Knowledge of FDOT or other state transportation agency standards is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with FAA drainage criteria is a plus.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and ArcGIS is desirable.
  • Ability to quickly learn and apply complex systems is advantageous.
