This Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Water Resources Engineer with expertise in hydrology and a strong understanding of data analysis and statistics. The Water Resources Engineer will oversee and coordinate projects focused on data analysis of key water and climate resilience metrics, ensuring efficient coordination, timely execution, and delivery of high-quality outcomes. This role requires a strong technical background in data analysis methods, statistical interpretation, and project management, along with excellent communication and collaboration skills. The Water Resources Engineer will collaborate on interpreting data, coordinating analysis efforts, and deriving insights that inform resiliency planning and decision-making in water resources management. The Water Resources Engineer will be a partner closely with the team to help ensure a holistic approach integrating hydrological, environmental, and ecological perspectives for comprehensive planning that addresses water and climate-related challenges.

Your Impact
  • Engage and coordinate collaboration with internal and external stakeholders for various data analysis projects and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, stakeholders, and vendors to define project goals, deliverables, and success criteria.
  • Plan, organize, and manage data analysis efforts from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Coordinate hydrological assessments, statistical data analysis, and modeling to support project objectives.
  • Co-lead activities for analyzing long-term trends in water and climate resilience metrics, including documentation and report writing, content development for online publishing, and coordinating metrics workgroup activities.
  • Manage contracts related to data analysis projects, overseeing project management tasks, and reviewing and developing deliverables.
  • Prepare and present project proposals, progress reports, and findings to stakeholders and management.
  • Manage project resources, including budgeting, scheduling, and procurement of resources or services as needed.
  • Work with cross-functional teams in executing project work.
  • Prepare and implement site Health and Safety Plans (HASPs).
  • Comply with regulatory requirements pertaining to the data integrity, documentation, procedures, training, monitoring systems, and record compliance and retention.
  • Interact with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients in a confident and professional manner.
  • Remain current in latest environmental engineering techniques.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Who You Are

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Hydrology, Statistics, Data Science, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • 5 to 7 years of relevant post education experience in water resources engineering.
  • Proven experience (5 years minimum) in project management within the data analysis or environmental sector.
  • Strong proficiency in statistical analysis tools (e.g., R, Python, MATLAB) and data analysis software preferred.
  • Knowledge of hydrological modeling software and GIS software preferred.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and trends to inform decision-making.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to interact confidently with team members, stakeholders, and vendors.
  • Project management certification (e.g., PMP) is a plus.
  • Ability to assertively direct others in the field such as subcontractors and others to consistently complete tasks safely and efficiently.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Engineering.
  • Essential Professional Licensure/Certification.
  • Experience managing small to mid-size projects.
  • 40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER) (29 CFR 1910.120) preferred.
  • Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training desired.
