Description

Position Summary:

Position uses computer software to draw and design upholstery and case products in collaboration with product designers, management, and manufacturing.

Position Details:
  • Draw individual parts of upholstery frame or case using all appropriate specifications
  • Create 3D models using Solid Works 3D cad software
  • Create bill of materials including purchased parts and wood parts required to build a complete frame
  • Draft full size frame detail of unit for manufacturing and purchasing reference
  • Draw knife drawings and lathe pattern drawings pertaining to unit parts needing to be produced
  • Create and draw part on plant route sheet which describes each machine operation for each step in making a part
  • Gather information from purchasing and industrial engineer for costing each sample
  • Consult with sample department to create full size pattern drawings
  • Work with plant personnel to solve any problems pertaining to the part or frame
  • Provide drawings to machine room where required
  • Modify units as needed and produce shop drawings for special construction requests and custom furniture Helps determine feasibility and best construction for custom pieces
  • Measure and document item dimensions for catalog and price lists
  • Assist in new product sample process as needed
  • Assist and participate with EDGE teams
  • Support customer service department by answering requests for information in a timely manner
  • Attend weekly meeting to report on progress of new products
  • Must follow all safety policies and procedures
  • All other duties as assigned
Qualifications

Position Requirements:
  • Good set of core values: friendly, cooperative, helpful
  • 2-year degree required, 4-year degree preferred
  • Knowledge of and ability to use engineering principles
  • Knowledge of furniture design, construction, materials, equipment and processes
