The Human Resources Generalist performs human resources support duties, organizes data received for accurate entry and efficient reporting. Answers and documents incoming calls handles and processes inquiries. The Human Resources Generalist carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: onboarding, benefits administration, recruitment and employment law compliance. Essential Functions Coordinates the pre-employment process from start to finish which includes background checks, verification of licenses, drug testing, reference checks and more. Identifies potential problems and discusses with Director of Human Resources or Executive Director as required. Provides and trains management on selection and staffing resources and tools. Administrates Applicant Tracking System and insures all posted jobs are accurate and posted with all required information. Ensures onboarding paperwork is completed and accurate in HRIS by date of hire. Reports new hire information to the state timely. Initiates and maintains accurate personnel files and ensures compliance. Maintains and verifies professional licensure information at time of hire and post-hire for all staff and contracted staff. Verifies annual driver’s license/insurance and safe driving record for each applicable staff member. Ensures all pertinent Human Resource information is communicated to and collected from new employees during new employee orientation sessions. Provides information as needed to internal and external customers when inquiries are made regarding organization, policies, procedures, benefits, etc., using superior customer service practices. Precept new staff to support professional relationships with newly hired team members as required. Partners with appropriate team to administer employee benefit plans (electronic and/or paper) which may include: open enrollment, new hire enrollment, accurate census reporting, monthly reconciliation of invoices, COBRA and insuring compliance with all Healthcare Reform regulations. Administers or Initiates FMLA, and all other LOA processes and paperwork. Maintains Worker's Comp reports and files and insures compliance with State regulations. Oversees the administration of the drug free work place policy and monitors random drug testing as required . * Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position. Other Duties Provides a resource of information on employment practices and policies in general May conduct training classes on HR issues and new hire orientations. Reviews and audits human resource related compliance items such as: Required Items due, Credentialing (OIG, FDLE, ACHA Level II compliance & Fingerprinting, etc). Coordinate terminated files recordkeeping with payroll. Works with Director of Human Resources and Management Team to ensure company is free of harassment and discrimination. Investigates any such claims promptly when needed. Assist Director of Human Resources to proactively insure timely completion of performance evaluations. Establishes and maintains relationship with colleges, universities and employment agencies identifying ways of recruiting talent for the organization. May plan, coordinate and attend job fairs or career events. Manages other HR projects and initiatives as requested. Assists leadership with employee relations, including investigations, coaching, and disciplinary actions. Assist in other activities and departments when requested, Maintains employee badge activation/access system for applicable region. Administers pension plan required action and/or submits yearly report. (if applicable) Promotes positive employee engagement, teamwork, and mutual respect and safety work practices. Provides orientation to new employees as needed Ensure Human Resources Department is prepared for inspections/surveys. Complies with all policies, local, state and federal laws and regulations. Maintain your required license, certifications and mandatory skill updates. Perform other duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibility May serve as an interim department leader depending on need.
