Responsibilities:

Estimator for Engineering and Construction - Position will have primary responsibility for developing and maintaining an estimating database of costs and equipment used in Transportation Infrastructure projects, including bridges, roadways, earth retaining structures, transportation facilities and related structures. The position may also include power related transmission and distribution projects for both engineering and construction work. With an established database the estimator supports the development of project and programs estimates for proposed and approved projects. They also assist in developing and tracking detailed bid packages for equipment and construction contracts. ] This position will work closely with project controls and senior management staff to support the development and production of high-quality estimates.

Essential Functions of the Position:

  • Work to align company processes and systems with best estimating practices
  • Understands estimating process, terminology, and measures.
  • Serve as an Independent Cost Estimator (ICE) for CMGC projects.
  • Understand Caltrans quantities takeoff, historical estimating data, and Risk Based Estimating process.
  • Experience and understanding of large and small transportation infrastructure design or construction, including equipment, material and labore rates.
  • Understands construction and engineering means, methods, and sequences.
  • Complies with established company policies and procedures and utilizes established systems and tools.
  • Exhibits confidence and a positive attitude about the project and the Company.
  • Maintains technical performance excellence.
  • Continually strives for the development of new tools and techniques for the purpose of enhancing estimating approaches.
  • Encourages diversity through new processes and tools.
  • Takes the lead in the implementation and improvement of estimating standards and procedures.
  • Identifies and develops recommendations for improving technical expertise.
  • Develops critical understanding of the company-s organizational units.
  • Builds collaborative relationships with multiple company organizations.
  • Assists in preparing budgets
  • Collects analyzes and archives project data.
  • Develops historical documentation and databases for reference and use
Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor-s Degree or equivalent in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field from an accredited school or University or equivalent related contractor/construction experience is required.
  • 4-10 Years- experience applying estimating terminology, measures, concepts, and principles.
  • Certification in estimating or related fields preferred (AACE International CEP)
  • Proficient with estimating software and establishing databases (TRC uses Sage)

Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.

Other Compensation: Employee may be eligible for participation in the Companys annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
