The Director of Risk Management under the direction andsupervision of the Vice President of Legal Affairs/General Counselassists with Legal and Risk Management Services department leadership,administration, and operation. The Director of Risk Management hassupervisory responsibility for identified department personnel and worksclosely with several departments. Performs other duties as assigned.Responsibilities Essential Duties and Responsibilities Leads and coachesa team of one or more assigned partners, some of whom may be sharedresources, and is accountable for the work of the team. Facilitatesprofessional development for assigned professionals in collaborationwith other Department leaders. Manages and supports insurance claims,including serving as first point of contact and working closely with theemployee partners, insurance representatives, Mercyhealth leadership,and coordinating and working with the Assistant General Counsel for Riskand Litigations Matters and the VP of Legal Affairs/General Counsel.Investigates, analyzes, tracks, trends, and evaluates alleged riskevents, reporting potential compensable events as appropriate. Incollaboration with Mercyhealth Finance, works to bid and award insuranceproducts; negotiates with the awarded vendors to assure the bestprice/coverage for Mercyhealth for both new and existing vendors; andreviews all related invoices for submission of payment approval. Managesdistribution of Certificates of Insurance to outside sources; managesinternal review and archival of Certificates of Insurance provided toMercyhealth from outside sources. Promotes awareness of and provideseducation and updates to key stakeholders on risk, risk mitigation andother assigned subject area(s). Ensures Department of Motor Vehicleseligibility checks are conducted on all employees who drive Mercyhealthowned or provided vehicles. Assumes responsibility for assignedperformance measures, including but not limited to those related toLegal Department efficiency and cost-savings.
