The Childcare Site Supervisor - Group Leader is responsible for assisting in the development, implementation, supervision and evaluation of an assigned site.
Key Responsibilities- Program Development and Implementation
Deliver the program in a positive environment of safety, support and care in keeping with Child Care Programs purpose; alert Program Director and/or Assistant Program Director when problems arise.
Compliance and Risk ManagementComply with all state licensing regulations, Dept. of Public Instruction guidelines, and Young Star; complete Shaken Baby Syndrome Prevention Training as needed; follow mandatory child abuse reporting laws and complete training every 2 years.
Site OperationsTake attendance daily and know the whereabouts of all children at all times.
Behavior ManagementSet clear rules and expectations to keep children safe and to help guide behavior.
Child RecordsBe familiar with all information in a child's file.
Site MaintenanceMake sure program space is safe, clean, and comfortable for active and quiet needs; set up program room incorporating at least 5 distinguishable interest areas.
CommunicationFollow through with requests and information from support staff listed in meeting notes, stated in voicemail, or any other form of communication.
Communication and Record KeepingCheck site voice mail every morning and afternoon. Record messages in communication log book received directly from a parent or retrieved from voicemail. If there are no messages in voicemail, write the date, am or pm, and no messages.
Mail and CommunicationCheck YWCA and school mailboxes for information.
Community EngagementInitiate and maintain communication with school personnel, especially principals and custodial staff.
Parent CommunicationGreet parents and children daily.
Information DistributionDistributer information to parents as needed; post information at parent table as it becomes available
Program EnvironmentCreate an environment that supports a wide range of activities and interests.
Child DevelopmentSupervise and interact with children to help them develop physically, socially, emotionally and cognitively.
Child GuidanceEnsure Child Guidance policy is properly maintained.
Snack ManagementRecord snack counts and items served daily and make menu changes when necessary.
Attendance RecordsKeep accurate records of children's attendance.
Financial ManagementDate and initial schedules and amount paid.
Emergency PreparednessRecord monthly drills.
Record KeepingEnsure all paperwork and record keeping materials are on site during program hours
Site OperationsResponsible for opening and closing the site.
Supply ManagementPick up snack cooler on the first day of the work week and any additional snack items during the week as requested. Return site cooler on requested day.
Supply ManagementInform Assistant Program Director Snack and Supply when you receive more or less snacks than required for your site
Supply ManagementResponsible for maintaining adequate supplies at the site (cups, bowls, plates, silverware, paper towels, food storage bags, blank schedules, table sanitizer, etc).
Professional DevelopmentAttend staff, departmental, and other YWCA meetings as assigned.
Organizational KnowledgeMaintain familiarity with YWCA goals, mission and programs.
Additional ResponsibilitiesOther duties as assigned
Qualificationso High School Diploma, or equivalent; advanced degree in Early Childhood, CDA, Elementary Education, or related degree preferred.
o 1-3 years' experience and educational background in group activities and planning daily programs.
o Ability to meet Wisconsin Department of Health and Social Services licensing requirements.
o Current CPR and AED certification.
o Registry level 10 with 6 of the credits being in supervision/personal management or financial management course work for Site Supervision; Registry Level 7 or Higher for Group Leadership.
o Ability to provide a safe, supportive, and stimulating environment for children.
o Detail-oriented with good communication, problem solving and organizational skills.
o Ability to develop a team approach with staff, volunteers and community partners.
o Strong interpersonal and communication skills; enthusiastic, warm and approachable.
o Experience working with culturally and economically diverse populations.
o Good judgement when making decisions. Able to make collaborative decisions for the good of the YWCA.
