The Risk Management Claims Analyst performs various tasks within the department and works on projects as needed. The position requires functionally specific knowledge from training and experience and uses that knowledge to perform a variety of company insurance functions, manage processes, administer policies, manage day to day deliverables, and represent the function at a broader level.

Manage low to moderate complexity workers’ compensation claims independently; manage severe claims with supervision and guidance from the Director of Risk Management. Maintain regular contact with injured associate and coordinate medical management (including treatment plans) with claim adjuster. Facilitate the relationship between claim adjuster, insurance carrier, and medical providers. Set-up and maintain workers’ compensation and general liability claim files for all Company locations. Manage low to moderate complexity general liability claims (customer injuries, property damage allegations) independently; manage severe claims with supervision and guidance from the Director of Risk Management. Assist external legal counsel with information requests as necessary. Build partnerships with internal and external clients. Assist in conducting investigations of associate injuries, customer injuries, and property damage allegations. Partner with Loss Prevention, Environmental Health & Safety, and the Company’s insurance carrier during claim investigations. Work with store management teams to ensure claims are entered and documented properly in web-based recordkeeping platform. Provide training to ensure compliance as needed. Work with stores, insurance carrier, medical providers, and injured associates to facilitate successful return to work or modified duty assignments. Support new store openings by providing required state workers’ compensation postings, claim reporting protocols, and training as needed. Assist Director of Risk Management in coordinating new vendor approval, including review of contract insurance provisions. Collect Certificates of Insurance for vendors, suppliers and Contractors and maintain online certificate database. Maintain and submit regulatory, compliance, etc. paperwork for the risk management department as needed. Assist Environmental Health and Safety Manager with identifying safety risks and aid in implementing safety standards. Maintain OSHA 300 and 300A documents and related files, to comply with annual reporting requirements. Maintain and update Safety Data Sheet (SDS) database and respond to customer SDS requests.

3-5 years of claims management experience preferred

· Basic understanding of OSHA recordkeeping preferred

· Knowledge of medical terminology a plus

· Ability to perform functions with independence while relying on management for some general direction and assignments

· Excellent communication and organizational skills

· Strong attention to detail required

· Ability to work with highly confidential information

· Must maintain a high level of accuracy with speed of data entry

· Proficient in Microsoft Office programs.
