The Quality Engineer is a position reporting to the Quality Manager or Operations Manager. The role will be the point of contact for inquiry, collaboration, requests from the Quality department, as well as assisting with the maintenance of the Quality Management System. The individual will have the opportunity to learn and mentor Quality team members as well as team members from other areas of the organization. The QE will help the Quality department implement improvements, use various problem-solving tools to identify root cause and risk remediation in the Production process, assist Quality team and Quality Manager with failure analyses and issue resolution, and collaborate with various stakeholders on Quality requirements for new product development and other projects. As a Quality Engineer, the individual will help maintain and ensure compliance to Edmund's AS9100 certified Quality Management System.

Responsibilities
  • Support the maintenance of Quality Management System.
  • Conduct training on the required management systems and relevant procedures with employees from across multiple departments.
  • Support the implementation new or improved processes.
  • Coordinate and maintain the site level internal audit schedule and program.
  • Generate, interpret, analyze, and communicate results using management tools, graphs, and reports.
  • Provide input on document enhancement and retention; maintain ISO/systems documentation and controls, administer activities required to maintain certifications, and actively coach the organization for maintaining systems.
  • Lead quality processes, collect, analyze, and report data as required.
  • Follow problem solving methodology to enhance our processes.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Comply with federal, state, and company policies, procedures, and regulations.
Qualifications

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Understands and applies comprehensive knowledge of quality principles and maintains current understanding of applicable standards regulations.
  • Familiarity or experience with the following is strongly preferred: Basic statistics, review/approval of documentation; risk tools, technical writing, and writing/reviewing/approving investigations.
  • Knowledge of SAP or similar ERP systems, as well as any eQMS software is a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Visio, Project. SharePoint experience is a plus.
  • Candidate should demonstrate knowledge of regulations and standards such as: of ISO 9001, AS 9100, ISO 13485, ISO 14001, and/or other quality management system standards used in manufacturing and aerospace.
  • Above average interpersonal, organizational and communication skills - written and oral to deal with a wide range of customers-both internal and external.
  • U.S. Citizenship or permanent residence required.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree (BA) from four-year college or university or Associates degree (A.A.) with three to five years related experience and/or training.
  • OR four to six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Lean 6 Green Belt certification required within 18 months of employment.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and operate office equipment such as a copier; ability to see details at a close range; ability to sit at desk or PC for long periods of time; ability to travel.
