Job Summary:

The Director of Aquatics and youth Programming oversees the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and administration of Sand Point Country Club's (SPCC's) aquatic facility and Youth programming. The person in this position hires, trains, tests, and is responsible for certification of all aquatics and youth team members in addition to ensuring that all appropriate water health and safety standards are maintained. They develop and implement various aquatics and youth programs and events with the support of the Leadership Team and Pool Committee. They will be responsible for budgeting, capital planning, scheduling and staying in tune with market changes.

Education, Experience, and Requirements:

•Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; preferred in a related field.

•At least 3 years of experience in the aquatics field.

•One year of private club management experience preferred.

•Must be available weekends, evenings, and holidays as Club needs dictate.

Job Duties include, but are not limited to:

POOL:

•Coordinate the recruitment, training, Sling/Paylocity scheduling, certification, and performance of aquatics team members; supervise the day-to-day activities of the aquatics team at the facility maintenance; oversee maintenance of pools including chemistry, climate control, cleanliness, and related maintenance.

•Conducts training of the aquatics team in water safety, first aid, and CPR, ensuring all certifications of the team are maintained, and provides in-service training as needed; coordinate the administration of the facility including the scheduling of facility operations and contract management.

•Ensures that all appropriate water, environmental, health and safety standards, compliance with all local, state, and national requirements are maintained, including all certifications.

•Works with the Facilities Manager and other team members to maintain the filtrations system and other aquatic operating systems including chemical balance.

•Performs regular safety inspections of pools and equipment to reduce hazards and to provide maximum safety to members and their guests.

•Develops programs with the Pool Committee as well as implements and oversees a variety of aquatics programs including but not limited to classes, meets, lessons, lap swim, swim team, and youth programs, while keeping events with member activities a top priority.

•Attends Leadership Team Meetings.

•Perform tasks as assigned by the General Manager/COO.

FITNESS:

•Supervises the Pool and Fitness Team to ensure that the Fitness Center policies and procedures are being followed.

o Fitness Supervisor duties:

§ Greet and log all members and guests.

§ Consistently clean and stock restrooms.

§ Communicate with the Director about any maintenance and supply needs.

§ Maintain Fitness and pool areas.

§ Create and maintain the Fitness Attendant Paylocity schedule.

§ Train all Fitness Attendants and ensure all policies and procedures are followed.

§ Ensure all safety precautions are followed.

§ Update and maintain any documents related to the Fitness Center.

§ Communicate with the Swim/Fitness Committee as needed.

§ Meets with the Director of Club Engagement weekly.

§ Hire and evaluate the Fitness Lead and Attendants.

§ Establish and maintain the Fitness budget.

YOUTH PROGRAMMING:

The Youth Programming is an essential component of the Director position. With the Member demographic drastically changing over the past 10 years to a younger, family focused environment, programming and childcare are important amenities. Working closely with the Food and Beverage team, the Directors goal will be to offer family friendly events, developing trust to host children-only events while the adults enjoy the other clubhouse amenities.

Supervises:

•Youth Lead and Kids Care Attendants.

Key Responsibilities:

•Develop, implement and manage plans to promote youth programs for the SPCC Membership.

•Ensure the program's safety standards are followed.

•Coordinate special events and activities.

•Supervise, train and schedule Kids Care Attendants.

•Plan and promote Kids Care events with the support of the Kids Care Lead.

•Provide Data and reports as required.

•Develop and maintain a relationship with Marketing to promote events.

•Respond to all Member and community inquiries or complaints in a timely manner.

o 72-hour response time.

•Develop and control budgets.

•Hire, train and supervise staff.

•Develop strategies and set goals within the department.

•Manage member input. Manage parent vs. member input. Parents advise to be considered in a collaborative manner with the committee and GM.

Key Priorities:

•Events with age ranges 5-10 and 11-16.

•Kids Care events within normal hours offered.

•Expanded hours of operation for Kids Care.

•End of year banquet for youth. (recognition and reward)

Licenses and Special Requirements

•CPR and First Aid Certified

•Certified American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor

•American Red Cross Professional Rescuer CPR/AED Instructor

•Certified National Swimming Pool Foundation Operator

•Certified as an Aquatics Facility Operator or in Pool Operations.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

•Must be able to sit, walk, and stand for extended periods of time.

•Must be able to stoop, kneel, and crouch.

•Push, pull, or lift a minimum of 50 pounds.

•Continuous repetitive motions and physical actions.

•This position requires use of close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

•Ability to communicate verbally, orally, and electronically.

•Able to work in a moderate noise level work environment.

Requirements

Experience:
  • CPR/First Aid Certification
  • Lifeguard Certification
  • Certified Pool Operator
  • Lifeguard First Aid Instructor
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in aquatics/pool management and maintenance
  • 1 year of private club experience
  • Proficient with computer software including Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Proven ability to build and foster a team environment
  • Knowledge of applicable safety and sanitation procedures and training
