Job DescriptionJob DescriptionPerforms histology specimen grossing and processing of surgically removed biopsy/small tissue requiring limited independent judgment under the supervision of a Pathologists' Assistant, Pathologist and/or Laboratory supervisor. Ensures specimen integrity upon arrival and throughout the entire process. Assures appropriate specimen accessioning and labeling. Dictates gross description for each biopsy specimen; dissects and prepares tissue for cassettes, according to Standard Operating Procedure (SOP). Prepares dissected tissue specimens and places specimen into cassettes. Complies with related laws, regulations and operating policies/procedures related to laboratory and functions. Adheres to established, related workload, quality and safety requirements. Maintains related records (i.e., Equipment Maintenance Logs, Filter Logs, Bench Excerpts, etc.) Assists in evaluating and reporting new laboratory equipment and procedures. Assists in performing Quality Control and Quality Assurance Procedures. Maintains cleanliness and safety of work area. Performs related duties, as required.Job Qualification Associate's Degree required.
